Nope. Not just you.

Just imaging yourself in that situation should illustrate everything you need to make the right decision.

My stepfather was a fisherman and had a house in Chalmette that he’d built himself brick by brick 50 years ago. He decided to stay with it (and mostly, the boat) and was struck in the roof with tons of snakes, gators, nutria... he ran out of rounds after 3 days, said F that and swam 3 miles to the high school roof that was on fire.

I would have just lit the house on fire

The exact quote today from our friends: "most people are staying, they don't seem worried."

If true this will unfortunately have an extremely high death toll

She's been a beast from birth as a wave on. Glad she didn't tuck under for the classic CV run.

Also Flo definitely appears to be getting an outer eyewall going. Pressure has been steady if not rising slowly. Setting up tomorrow morning/afternoon as the best strengthening window, with the warmest waters of the trek.

About as well as Dauphin Island and Horn Island did to protect AL and MS mainland.

If it comes in around Wilmington, you will probably get some rough outer bands..heavy winds knocking out power and torrential rains. Treat yourself to a nice drive with some music and a few days in NYC

Power is going to be out in many places for a long time. I’d rather be in a comfortable place conducting somewhat normal daily routine items than stuck somewhere without power in waiting on something, anything.

Gas stations will be out of gas. Ice will become an extinct commodity for days. Beer will be hot. Frozen foods melt.

Yes, evacuate even if for a few days. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Are they not from the area? People on the East Coast know just as much if not more than people in La what the effects of a major hurricane can be.

shite no a ton of them arent!

The locals know what’s up it appears but I dunno about knowing more than LA folks. I’ve been through like 5 major hurricanes in Louisiana. Dont think any of my NC brethren have seen that many here

I'd be preparing to stay in Virginia Beach for now. Still need to stock up accordingly. Shouldn't be too difficult to get north from there. You'll have some notice if the storm path starts shifting northward.

Sure as shite doesn't jibe with the microwave pass. Guess the winds are just catching up to the pressure if that's not a suspect.

Virginia Beach area

I wouldn't stay. A lot of low areas that won't hold much water. I used to live near the bay bridge.
