We are considering leaving Cape Charles and offering our home to some people who cannot leave the area due to age and health. Kinda hard to decide what is best to do. Thursday is the go/no go date. The Va Governor is on TV saying up to 20 inches of rain and no power for a week.

think we are going to stay as we have a boat to deal with. The good news is it's in a pretty well protected marina and has floating docks

Do y’all not remember Katrina/Rita ripping loose oil rigs out of the gulf? And you think your boat tied to a floating dock will be ok

Some of you really don’t understand the power of these storms

Sure as shite doesn't jibe with the microwave pass. Guess the winds are just catching up to the pressure if that's not a suspect.

I think that pass is nearly 3 hours old, unless I'm misreading something. 2233z is 5:33 CST.

trust me, it'll be much longer than a week to restore all power after this one goes by.

Raise your boat as high as you can and leave it untied. It's the only hope.

Appreciate it.. We should be fine. We’re a little outside of Raleigh not in one of the flood zones. Wind shouldn’t be too crazy by the time it gets here.

I hope you don’t have a wife and kids you’re foolishly putting in harm’s way. It’s time to get your shite and leave. Insured or not insured boat be damned.

To be fair, that poster is in Cape Charles, VA. He's much further from the projections than most in this thread.

Euro suggesting 80-90 mph gusts around Raleigh, FWIW.

I didn't check the timestamp, so if one of us missed something, the smart money is on me.

If recon is in now, if there is a replacement, there should be a double max popping up on the SW side. If not, probably she just ate some dry air.

I would keep a close eye on it at cape Charles though. A wobble north could put them in danger

I'd be preparing to stay in Virginia Beach for now. Still need to stock up accordingly. Shouldn't be too difficult to get north from there. You'll have some notice if the storm path starts shifting northward.

Apparently you don’t know about the tunnel he’ll have to go through in Norfolk. It’s that or a bridge that’s going to be backed up as far as the eye can see.
