Are you saying that image portrays the storm heading back south after landfall? I'm really confused

No, it means that landfall is going to be farther south. Miami instead of like Titusville or palm city. That it will turn west sooner than later before it shifts back north and moves up the peninsula

Any update on the Ridge and what it could do to the storm?

It's a good thing it has been a dry summer in Florida....

*checks rainfall over the past month*

Oh.

So flooding is really becoming a huge concern in my mind.

I get it. Better my house destroyed than yours.

Just send tarps and a tent for me.

No matter the path, I'm going to be cutting up trees for some friend or family member in Florida.

Was he the one we all watched that almost died in Mexico Beach?

My elderly mom and aunt live 6 miles from the coast in Ft Pierce in a retirement community . She lives in a cheap prefab home but will be going with ten other elderlies to a concrete home for the duration of the storm. Somebody is doing the storm shutters for her as the storm gets closer. She’s obsessing about her cats. She won’t accept my offer to fly her out or pick her up or get her a hotel or anything. Tough lady.

She has a son that lives more inland about 3 or 4 miles, which ain't shite in a hurricane.

For wind it hardly matters, for storm surge it is all the difference in the world.

I’ve got a lot of family over your way. Palm Coast/Flagler Beach. They’d much rather see it come up from Miami than make landfall in Daytona/Titusville. Can’t say I blame them. It’s going to suck either way. I’m holding out hope that ridge dissipates and it just takes off northeast. Regardless, stay safe. Hope the best for you.
