An EF4 tornado has winds around 200 mph.
Which lasts about 30 seconds over any given point.
I can't imagine what a nearly the same winds as that sustained for hours on end. There won't be a tree left on the island. Most every building will be wiped away.

Moving W at 2 mph? Could not imagine being in this thing right now with it pretty much stalled overhead.
Does this slow down mean a right/northern turn is happening?

I believe all along it has been some ridge of high pressure that has kept Dorian moving more or less due west. This high pressure is expected to erode, thus allowing it to go north in the direction it wants itself to take. It's all when that high pressure steering current goes away.
ETA: I no doubt either A. oversimplified it, B. incorrectly stated something, or C. both A&B.

Tornado wind speed and hurricane wind speed are not the same thing.

Dorian is basically stationary over Grand Bahama Island. Incredible.
It does appear in the last few frames to have begun the northward turn (possibly. it could just be a wobble).

New track expects this to be a Major Hurricane all the way up to the Georgia/South Carolina border. It keeps it offshore just an FYI

The fact this has been a Cat 5 for nearly 24 is amazing and scary.

Reports that the Grand Bahama Airport is under 5 ft of water.. no surprise considering its location and the onshore flow/storm surge
