yeah and if he doesn't act this early, and that fricker jogs west unexpectedly, it jeopardizes a lot of peoples lives and he would be vilified for not taking it seriously.

Another bust of strengthening could be on tap, if there is no ERC.

I mean is there a huge difference in damage between 150 mph and 190 mph?

S.C. governor just ordered mandatory evacuations for some coastal counties (including mine) starting tomorrow at noon. Seems a bit premature?

Well guess I'll see if Georgia governor will follow suit..

SC always calls it before Georgia. They either look like a genius (like Haley for Matthew) or like a moron. There is no in between.

HWRF has been pretty locked in on moving this inland and then over Jacksonville, FL.

Duke and Slackster are the best tracters when Peej isn't involved.

But this storm is throwing them fits.

Peej predicted this path perfectly so far.

The equation for Force produced by wind includes the speed squared. Huge difference between 150 and 190. I imagine the majority of buildings in the florida coast are designed to handle 150, while nearly 0 were made for 190.

SC governor is an idiot. It’s days away from a landfall.

I know... I was being a slightly facetious.

This is the wind map from ASCE which determines what buildings need to be rated to.

My point was that if theres nothing left the wind speed doesnt matter.

McMaster ordered a mandatory evacuation of over 800,000 people starting tomorrow.

Instead, he should start with a voluntary order of the barrier islands and then escalate as the forecast comes more into focus. He is putting the entire Charleston and Myrtle Beach metros on the road at the same time for a storm that has never been forecasted to landfall in SC.

He called one too early last year that was called off about 12 hours later.

I know this is a completely different situation, but we are going to play it cool tomorrow and see how things shape up. Plenty of time still to leave, and with three kids 4 and under, I’m definitely not gun shy to leave. But tomorrow seems to early. Just going to make it difficult to get around town.
