Oh my goodness, please let this be wrong. Prayers for all ... really concerned for that Bahamian family with the tiny baby that we got a glimpse of several hours ago.

I’m definitely not gun shy to leave. But tomorrow seems to early.

I think it is supposed to make the turn from late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Buy extra gas cans, fill them up, and bring them with you. There will be none available to buy and you can get low in a bad traffic situation.

Keep those babies safe, and moving.

Hurricanes are the way they toughen them up, and teach them to dance down there.

ETA: Really? 15 downvotes for a joke?

I imagine the majority of buildings in the florida coast are designed to handle 150, while nearly 0 were made for 190.

Actually, the Florida Building Code requires hurricane protection measures in Miami-Dade Couty to withstand 146 MPH and 140 MPH in Broward. In the counties from Brevard on North - about half of the East Coast of Florida it only needs to be 120 MPH.

One of them has to be right, and one wrong, but neither will budge. I wouldn’t be feeling particularly comfortable in the Florida east coast, even with it being likely that the center stays just offshore.

Seems like a lot of the videos of damage that are online, were taken during the eye. Not much since. That has me really concerned.

There seems to be a absolutely nothing since the eye videos.

Just going to make it difficult to get around town.

I feel sorry for anybody traveling to Charleston for business this week since the interstates will all be reversed. Forced to use the backroads to get down there.

Like zero. Nothing. There were all sorts of videos from Abaco when the storm was about 40 miles out and then just black.

I’m sure all of their cell towers and rest of their communications all failed in the eastern eyewall

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned backup battery power usually holding out for a couple hours during these storms, when asked how anyone was even getting images/video out in social media down there. I don’t know anything about that, but it could explain the radio silence.

Was this the Abaco woman with the 4 month old baby stuck out on the roof/balcony? I keep checking her IG account but no updates.

Grand Bahama Island is starting to take the eyewall.

Note the far left side of the image is SE Florida.
