Weather though? We have 4 seasons..

Eh I'd say it's 2 and 2/3.

Summer, winter, a third of spring and a third of fall.

Hell, it's a month before summer and it's mid 90s here.

I’m going to take that to mean the preceding comment regarding NASA was meant as a joke.

I was just there this week. The whole time I was there I had a growing desire to pinch my nose and say rumor and innuendo 8,000 times

Alabama is a shithole. Period.

Huntsville is one of the only exceptions. I'll give them that.

The metro isn't even close to Birmingham's.

It reminds me of people from Chattanooga that say that Chatt's about to pass Knoxville because of the city limits population (Knoxville has a small & outdated city limits design).. When Knox County has 100k+ people more than Hamilton county and The Chattanooga metro is at 550k compared to Knoxville's 875k+ metro population.

Huntsville is an engineer’s paradise with jobs on jobs on jobs and it isn’t slowing down.

Plenty of good breweries and a nightlife that’s really starting to take off in the last decade. Proximity to Lake Guntersville and hiking trails of Monte Sano are great. Mountain View’s in general are gorgeous.

Proximity to Nashville is a big plus.

I could go on and on but I do very much enjoy this area and will absolutely consider raising my family here. It’s an engineering salary with the cheap taxes of Alabama and a good city with great schools.

Urban area population and Metro population are more important over something arbitrary like city population.

Birmingham's urban/metro is 794,000/1.15 million. Huntsville's is 286,000/445,000.

Huntsville is good for Alabama, but it’s still Alabama.

Chatt isn’t going to pass Knoxville and doesn’t have the planning to pass Knoxville. Its better as a smaller city.

City limits are getting very close, but that's because huge swaths of West Knoxville are incorrectly (imo) considered county instead of city.

I'll agree with this. B'ham has got some damn good food.

And lower housing prices. And much lower chances of being shot (and culcha in general). And not run by a corrupt as frick and worthless city government. And less traffic. And better outdoor activities.

I’m in Bham and have been for 10 years. Very happy here, especially after the growth in the last 5-6 yrs.

Bham has got a lot going for it, that said, I wouldn’t be upset to be in Hville

These dumb coonass swamp fricks on this board used to say the same shite about Bham bc they can't imagine a good meal without mudbugs pulled from ditches, now we're rolling in James Beard Award winning restaurants and chefs and considered by the experts probably the best food city outside of major cities in the US.

Not to say Huntsville can hold a candle to Bham in the food scene (or really any other way except space related jobs), but this site is constantly letting their massive insecurity over how awful Louisiana is hang out

Restaurants and food and chefs are on a different level in Louisiana compared to Alabama.

Not saying B'Ham is bad when it comes to outdoor stuff. Huntsville just has more.

The amount of hiking trails in the city alone sets it apart because of the Huntsville Land Trust. That plus having the Tennessee River on the southern border of the city and Lake Guntersville only 30 minutes away puts it over what B'Ham has to offer.

Not to mention the canoeing/floating opportunities on the Flint River, activities on Monte Sano and Green Mountain, etc.

Not compared to Birmingham. Birmingham blows the doors off of every city in LA except New Orleans, and even then New Orleans doesn't have much of an advantage anymore.

And I say this as someone who'd never in a million years live in Birmingham.

I wish I agreed with you. I’ve lived here for three years now and miss several places from back home. Birmingham certainly has way better BBQ than anywhere in LA, but I struggle to really place much else higher.
