If it's a bigger city, look for your schools alumni association. Great way to meet people with common interest/ experiences.

Edit: you don't have to actually have graduated from the school to join in most cases.

What city are you in?

Dallas. Moved here with the GF so we only hung out with each other. Now we have broken up and I could definitely use some guy buds. I like to booze, so bars on the weekdays after work is a good choice.Easier to strike up conversation.s

Gym, run club, volunteer - habitat for humanity, take a class, church, - mainly just don't get it in the habit of staying home because you don't know anyone.

Do you drink? It is pretty easy to make friends in a bar.

That's my favorite hobby. Although, it seems weird to meet people out on a Friday & Saturday night alone. I would think during the week it would be much easier and acceptable?

Good choices.
Like cigars? Go hang at a local tobacconist or try a few different ones. Each will have its regulars, and you'll eventually find a crew you like.

Definitely. That way, you find people who are also comfortable with drinking at a bar on a weekday, and those are the kinds of friends you want.

Lots of options...
Volunteer to coach at a kids rec league.
Join a gym
Join a Country Club
Join a church
Join a club
Volunteer for a political party
If all else fails and you're desperate, get thrown in the slammer for a weekend
