How would the South look today if there was no Indian Removal/Trail of Tears?

-Would the natives have eventually fully assimilated with their land allotted to individuals, leading to a natural death for the culture?

-Would the Confederacy have kicked them out in the 1860s?

-Would we have larger reservations, similar to the system out west?

I doubt we would. The large tracts given to the indians out west had little economic value at the time. anything considered valuable farm land would not have been been given to them.

Many stayed.

All were eventually assimilated into white or sometimes black culture by the early 20th cent (Cherokee) or maintained a small community of their own (Seminole).

All I know is I live about 15 minutes from an Indian casino and they all get crazy amounts of money from it. Many of them don’t even look Indian and are as white as I am.

Things may have been bad for Native Americans originally, but a lot of their descendents are better off because of it.

Many of those Indians’ descendants are still here today. They’re just mixed with white people. Also, most Hispanics are part Indian. That’s why they have dark complexions.

That's very debatable.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians is printing money on the Reservation. Not just the casino but also the golf course and water park.

It would look like South America. You have some that look more European, and some that look indigenous.

Would they have still fought on the CSA side if the US had respected earlier treaties and let them be instead of kicking them out to Oklahoma?

The avg black person in USA has 17% native DNA.

Natives had some black slaves.

There would be no Atlanta.
Cherokee nation was there and up into Appalachians.

No Clemson either.
