How Was NOPD Locating All These Concealed Weapons?

Take this for what it’s worth, a guy in my neighborhood was telling other neighbors that he was working a security detail for NOPD where he was in plain clothes on the parade route/heavy traffic areas with some sort of device that locates concealed guns.
His job was to walk around the route and when his device picked one up then he was to alert NOPD and they would take action. That sounded off to me at the time but now it’s sounding like there could be some truth to it with the whole Nabors situation.
Could this have something to do with why the DA is dropping charges bc there is a good chance that the cops were illegally searching them to begin with? Is there any information on what Nabors was doing when he got his gun taken away?

Cletus and Jimbob have advanced naval technology to find fish on a stump 30 feet away, so why wouldn't cops have a way to detect guns on people?

Sounds crazy but kinda makes sense too.
I assumed the cops may have been doing random stop and frisks, which they technically aren't allowed to do but given the earlier shooting they were doing whatever they could to stop another one.

My thoughts exactly. When I first heard it, my thought was well that doesn’t sound legal. DA not filing charges makes me think that it probably wasn’t.

They have to have some sort of tech that alerts for guns on the route. Either plain clothes or the helicopter in the sky. No way NOPD is finding guns from actual police work.

Have you seen the pants trend these days? A gun sticks out pretty well
And years ago they would stop and frisk anyone smoking weed but I doubt that’s the case anymore

All they are doing is a gun grab. Arrest, confiscate and release. You can hire a lawyer to get your gun back or just go buy another gun for less money.

with todays tech i can see a portable hand held or wearable device to detect gunpowder.
it doesnt seem like that much of a mystery, but im sure they dont want to tell how they do it for obvious reasons
hell a damn k9 dog can be trained sniff out ammo, so thats an easy way to walk through a crowd and find who has guns

I think the condition is that NOLA keeps the firearm.
Could they have been illegally searching to keep guns off the street? Maybe. Do I have a problem with that? Maybe not.

NOPD has used technology for years that has a gun detection feature. Not sure what it is, but remember reading about it several years ago.
