How to take advantage of meeting health insurance deductible?

39 YO healthy. Not a doctor goer. Was attacked by a stray dog who bit my leg and the owner ran off. Anyway, without knowing the health history of the dog, I was basically forced into going to doctor to get a rabies shot. Somehow, $14k bill and meeting my full deductible.
Trying to take solace in this bullshite...was wondering now if it was possible to schedule some things and take advantage. What procedures should I look into at this point?

Should’ve gotten bit by that dog earlier in the year and really gotten your moneys worth.

Is it 12 shots to the stomach that are extremely painful, like we were told when we were kids? Or was that a lie to keep us away from wild animals?

You'll want to check whether your insurance covers at 100% after its met or if it covers at a lower percentage (such as 60% or 80%).
That said, it's worth getting a full check up, blood work, and any diagnostic procedures (like a colonoscopy) if your insurance doesn't already cover it as preventative care.

Hunt down the dog and the owner.
Then well you know.

Took the plate number and they tracked it to an owner that didn’t fit the description provided.

Chiro here in town has a massage therapist. You just have to see him twice before he can refer you to getting massages. Every year after hitting my deductible I go once a week.

On the first visit you get immunoglobulin shots as close to the wound as possible, as well as a vaccination on days 0, 3, 7, 14, and 28.

Are you questioning the rabies shot or the 14K?
Treating for potential rabies is the recommended course of action for a dog bite by an unknown dog.
I have no idea about the cost

Depending on your insurance they may already be free under you plan, they were for me.

The shots for the rabies alone were just south of $12k for the medication itself. Then the physicians fee and others smaller costs. My insurance covered most obviously. I was angry when they said the cost of the drug was far less and that if I was uninsured it would be less. I demanded an audit and we went though every line item. Pissed to no avail. Now, I’m just trying to get my money out of it.
