We dumped it on ant beds or along the fence row in the field when I was growing up

There was a park next to my place when I was in high school that had stands of trees here and there.

There are gallons of old oil in the middle of the trees closest to my house.

Dad retired from Citgo. He taught me how to properly dispose of used oils: always buy a house near a storm drain!

Grew up on a street in Zachary with a canal behind one side. We used to walk the concrete canal to get to the wooded area and "bayou" at the end of the street. Every single house had a oil trail running down from the fence line. It was just what you did.
