Still use it in fence lines. It’s biodegradable.

Growing up in the 60's we had a long gravel/dusty driveway leading to the house. Oil went on the driveway. Barely made a dent in the dust.

What’s the difference between just pouring in a hole vs pouring over rocks?

I used to put old oil back in the empty oil containers and put them in the weekly trash bin for pickup

Since most of you pussies pay someone else to change it this is a moot point.

It takes a long time to permeate the soil so the rocks keep you from having a big arse oil spot.

Take used oil and mop it on your utility trailer boards to waterproof them. Lasts a long time.

I use a coffee filter to filter out all the harmful byproducts before I pour it in my neighbors yard.

I brush it on utility trailer wood for waterproofing.
Also have a smudge pot heater. Nothing goes to waste

Changing your own oil, park a front wheel on top of the storm drain at a angle so that the oil pain drain plug hole empties into the storm drain. Unscrew the oil filter and if it goes in to drain, oops. Except for the metal ones that used a replaceable paper filter insert, don't drop that. Use old newspaper to clean up excess on the road or ground.
Works for transmission and differential oil changes too.
Very common in the 60's and 70's in Nola and Metairie, we're teenagers saving money changing our own oil.
I cringe thinking about it now.

In the '80s I would straddle a ditch next to the road to change my oil. Easy access and disposal for a suick win-win.

That’s where the devil worshippers hung out… allegedly

I dumped so much oil on that fence row the ground is probably still black.
Using fresh oil won’t give you that stubborn black stain. The more you know.gif

Nah. The devil worshipers and Klan rallies were supposed to be on McHugh Rd. Our area had "Dead Man's Hill" and simply "The Canal". Ran behind the area near 39th St.

I see it as just putting it back from where it came from to begin with.
