Maybe you should just leave the wife back home in the trailer park then...

But seriously....it's worth what people are willing to pay...so don't pay it and send a message.

The message won't be heard though because there are thousands and thousands willing to pay, so why WOULDN'T they charge that much?

All you Disney fans out there, what am I doing wrong? My wife is with me on a work (and fun) trip to Pasadena and Anaheim. While I work on Friday, she wants to go to Disneyland. So we look around for a 2-park, one-day ticket and it is $169. What the frick? How can people pay that shite?

I am probably not going to win any friends among the Disney lovers out there, but I fricking hate Disney. frick you Disney! There is no fricking way your park is worth that much.

I got dragged to the shite-hole in Orlando in February 2013 and it was 92 fricking degrees, and crowded as frick. But I think we paid like $70 or $75 each back then, per day. Which I thought was high, but sort-of expected that from gouging Disney. How is it four years later and it is WELL-OVER TWICE that amount?

Sorry for being so gruff.. if you love Disney, to each his own. I fricking hate it, and this is one of many reasons why. Thanks in advance for any tips... and if you think I am an a-hole.. ehhh.. I'm not gonna argue. frick you Disney!

No doubt thats expensive and as someone who loves disney and goes often I can sympathize. Disney is not built to be a 1 day experience. Yes a 1 day ticket is about $150 ish but each extra day is only about $25 so if you stay 5 days its $250 or $50 a day. Still expensive but much more palatable. The pricing discourages 1 day visits.

Disney is nice, but it's grossly over priced. I thought staying a week was costly until I talked to a British family that was on their second week of a 3 week vacation there! I was like Wahaaaaaaaa?

Euro's love Disney. Lots of foreigners vacation there throughout the year. I don't know if it makes up a huge portion of the gate, but it's significant. If they had to rely solely on US gate patronage, they wouldn't survive and process would be even more obnoxious.

Pretty much this. They aren't really that interested in people coming for one day. I know people will call me nuts, but I just shelled out about $1100 for tickets for my daughter and I. We have two week long trips planned to WDW this year, so I bought annual passes. 2 people, 14 total day, that gets me to about $49 per day per person. I can live with that.

This. Look on the good side, this is keeping a lot of screaming, crying brats out as well as families that you probably don't want to be around.

I've always thought that since Disney is a faraway destination for most people and is a place that nearly ever parent will want to visit that they can just charge whatever. People will pay it because they already know going in that it's going to be extremely expensive.

My parents and I went to Six Flags when I was a kid once. We decided on Friday to drive to Atlanta and stay the night. Probably spent $300 total on the entire thing with those coke coupons.

We also went to Disney World and it was a 6 day, $4000 trip.

Disney has really marketed itself as being worth as much if not more than a trip to Europe.

Can't imagine being in California and even thinking about gong to Disney. Doesn't sound like you planned at all.

People pay a lot of money for entertainment. How much does it cost to go to a top tier sporting event or concert that only lasts a few hours?

I have a ten year old. I took him to California when he was 7 and we did an epic off-roading adventure up the eastern Sierras. Mammoth...Yosemite...Lake Tahoe...

The wife and I lived out in Bay Area after LSU when we were still dating. Drove up and down the coast and stayed in countless little towns. Got engaged on the coast even. I don't think Disney was EVER mentioned.

Well this is a bit of an overreaction.

Tiered pricing. Welcome to our economy, you must be new here.

Prices are built on how many days you buy and for how many Parks. If I buy a 5 day park hopper for disney world in early December, between busy times, it'll run me 60-70 a day. If I go to one park and buy one ticket for one day, it'll cost 100

One day pass for both Harry Potter world's at Universal in Orlando is around 170 last I saw so seems par for the course

If you can't afford it or just don't want to pay it, too bad. Not everyone gets what they want. Disney isn't dumb, they've set prices at which people who want to go, will pay for it. If you don't want to pay it, they aren't going to lower the price just for you. You are not entitled to have whatever you want.
