AirBnB has some really good prices on accommodations there during the CFP National Championship Game and I was thinking of taking the wife and taking in the event. NOLA guys, the reviews seem to indicate that it's a safe place to say, what say you?

It's New Orleans. You're liable to get shot on Canal Street. Nowhere is safe.

There’s a reason it’s close yet cheap. It doesn’t stop people from booking those places.

It really depends on what part of Treme.

Personally I would stay in other areas. Some may disagree.

Not.I would not advise anyone to stay in that area. Sure, it's gotten better, but way to sketchy at night. Had a nephew that wanted to book near Bunny Friend playground. Told him it was a nice quiet area of town, close to everything. Stopped that real quick. Got a nice place off Henry Clay for a couple bucks more. Him and his buddies took the Street Car downtown and Uber home.

Treme is a mixed bag. Literally depends on the block you’re on. The biggest problem is that “bad people” easily come through the area. I wouldn’t say the area is bad, I would say it has the potential to see bad.

It is always full of bachelor and bachelorette parties these days.

You don't hear anything about them getting murked.

Venetian Isles bad?
It is a safe place. No services or amenities but it is nice and peaceful out there

If you watched the HBO series, it's very safe.

If you watch the crime stats, it's not very safe.

It's been gentrifying for the past few years but still hit-or-miss. The area directly north of the French Quarter (bounded by N Rampart - Louis Armstrong Park - Esplanade - and N Villere) is pretty nice and full of AirBnBs. The Lafitte Projects are still within the neighborhood so the closer you are to there or N Claiborne, the shittier it gets. Personally, I'd try to get a place north of Broad St close to Esplanade Ave. You can bike down Esplanade Ave to the Quarter in 5 mins.

Well a couple were held at gun point and forced to felatio a man out on the streets.

Seems harmless.

Read the reviews & see what everyone is saying. The more positive reviews the better. Some pockets aren’t great

Fwiw I posted 5 Airbnb’s on the Rant this weekend that are safe and priced right
