24 years old in 2004. House was $69K.
Got qualified for $19K in down payment assistance because the great state of MS didn’t pay me shite for working for them. Year later, Katrina wiped the house away and I profited and moved to the country.

I got in right before the market went insane. Not because I'm smart, it just lucked out that way. And the reason I didn't buy earlier in life was because I was still mobile, single, mid-income, no reason to marry a house. Just rented.

25, my dad was a carpenter when I was growing up. He always promised me he would help me build my first house. Lived in a trailer for 3 years then built a starter home. Financed $112k in 2004 for a 1,700 sf build off Hoo Shoo Too.

30. $189,000 2 bedroom, one bath 1250 sq ft 1930s cottage in Old Metairie. Immediately added on to make it a 3/2 1800 sq ft. A few years and another kid later added on again to make it a 4/3 2400 sq ft with new kitchen and cathedral ceiling den with open floor plan. Lived there for 11 years then used the equity to build a larger home on lakefront. Home ownership has been a key for us in building wealth.

29, when my dad passed (mom passed five years earlier) and, being the only child, I inherited the house in which I was raised.
