The creation vs naturalism debate is always doomed to failure because there are not enough beliefs held by both factions to provide a starting point from which to build a logical argument. To change a person's mind on a fundamental belief you normally have to build from a point where both people agree on a set of "facts" usually this is based on shared personal experience that stems from sensory perception that supports those facts.
If one believes in creation because it is the literal word of omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipowerful entity and the other does not believe in the entity there is literally nothing to build on.
Frankly, I find those types of debates tedious and useless. The only parts I find interesting are those of true faith but are able to rectify and accept the "faith in science" view.

I thought this thread died yesterday, but yet it was resurrected quicker than JC.
I just want to say I love all the creationist up in here… even though I’m still a little annoyed that you held up legal sports gambling for so long, reading this thread has been truly eye opening.
Still think a couple of y’all are just fantastic trolls to be honest,

Older than we think. Idk how old we think earth is though, but older than that

A couple billion. I know biblically it points to a young earth but what was the basis of time at that point?
The Bible says God created earth in 7 days but what did that mean? Was a “day” a day, 10 years, half a billion years…..?

Billions.
This is where the concept of time gets wonky for me. There is no real time in infinite space, in my opinion. At least our concept of time.

Can you show us a picture of a flat earth with all continents and no shopping?
Just take a Mercator projection map and lay it on the floor. There's your globe, Copernicus. Duh.

What if your thinking was a simulation and not reality ? Maybe the earth is an illusion? Maybe your thoughts are the only thing that exists and reality is a distortion.

Just dropped a fat bookmark on this thread. Got through the first few pages whilst high the other night, but now it looks like I got more to sink my teeth in to.
God what a read
The last few pages were either the strongest commitment to a bit we’ve ever seen, or we just witnessed an actual crazy person

We used to have Evolution debates back in the day monthly and we had a few freakshows that were DEFINITELY true believers. It was so much fun.

Here’s one:
quote:
Fort Jefferson (the "Fortress" installation) was said to have been built with OVER 16 million bricks, making it the largest brick building in the western hemisphere. It's placement covers 11 of the islands 16 total acres. 98% of those 16 acres ARE UNDER WATER. The narrative tells us construction of Fort Jefferson began in 1846 and continued for over 30 years -- built as a "military fortress" and defense installation (in the middle of no where??) It is also a "Star Fort" -- one of hundreds of so-called "Star Forts" built the world over; and ALL of them we are told were "defense fortresses". Imagine the impossible logistics and construction -- especially considering its odd out of the way location and its highly intricate challenges of building on what is a phantom island that's 98% UNDER water -- which in no way makes a lick of sense for ANY purpose for ANY year -- never mind the year of 1846.
