47. Stopped contributing to 401k once BC/BS raised our premiums due to Obamacare mandates. Just now starting back up.

Will not ever retire as a result. Thanks Obama.

I want to set up a Roth. Where should I go to do that? My company uses Fidelity for the 401K and 403B.

ETrade. Tons of options and research available and a great app.

Premiums were actually rising at a faster % rate pre Obama care.

Not for BC/BS of Alabama. Everything was pretty flat and then Obamacare came in and BC/BS threw us a line about having to raise premiums because of mandates. Those jumps were 33%. Since we in the government sector average 3% raises per year and the Cost of Living goes up 4% on average...it doesn't take long before you're backwards....and you have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Yeah, I'm not sure why this is even a debate anymore. Almost everyone now acknowledges the crazy rise in premium costs and deductibles after the ACA passed.

BUMP. People's responses got pretty interesting. Thanks to the OP I am considering opening a new IRA or 401K. I guess it's never too late to get started.

I think these topics are great and really motivate people to think about their retirement. 3%, 5%, 20% or whatever you can do to save for your retirement is better than nothing.

It has certainly convinced me to finally pull my Roth from my current provider and put into one that doesn't need me to explain what a backdoor is.

Interesting to see a few real responses outside the echo chamber of the money board. Unfortunately OP is getting showered with down votes. It's too bad people people don't talk finances more freely outside of financial forums. It would help the masses avoid money mistakes and prosper using the power of compounding growth.

I agree. Allows you to compare yourself to others and adjust if needed.
