I go back and forth. My two extremes would be

1. You should have no noticeable pattern or triggers that make you want to. If you drink more than on special occasions, it should seem totally random.

Or

2. More than 3-4 times a week.

Ultimately, -regardless of WHY-, it should cause zero problems at home or at work. Persisting to drink thru conflict about it at home and/or persisting to drink if it has hurt your work performance ought to be the breaking point.

Sober is boring frequently, though. Stupid physiology.

i vary between 2x per week to 7 nights a week. But if I am doing 7 nights, I am probably on vacation or stop myself at 2. Most of the time its 2-4x per week. And I probably only have more than 5 drinks once a month.

The old a-hole Inversion Rule applies here: the bigger an a-hole you are, the less often you should get drunk. And vice versa.

Depends on level of responsibility. I'm good with once a week, but I haven't gone out in like 2 weeks, so I'm slacking. It also depends on if you're with a lady or not. I'm not trying to puke on a bitches bathroom carpet

I'm 28 with no kids. Engaged, but not married yet. I drink 2-3 times/wk. it doesn't affect work. Once every 6 months or so I may piss the fiancée off. I'm fine with it.

I quit drinking on week days for lent. Realized drinking wasn't a big deal, so kept it going and even expanded it to the weekends for the most part.

Went from getting a solid buzz no less than 3-4 times a week, to getting a simple wine buzz MAYBE once per week

I have found that when I go out by myself, I end up staying up until like 8 or 9am and spending triple what I normally would. Party on Wayne

Depends on your age, really. If you are over about 25 and are getting drunk more than once per week, you are headed for some pretty bad health problems...

Oh im no doubt enjoy going out by myself drinking. Some think i'm weird, but I don't drink at home unless someone is here drinking with me. And a lot of the time I like to drink to blow off steam and clear my head, so i'll sit at a cheap watering hole with my ear buds in alone watching an NBA game on their TV. That's 50% of my drinking.....

But time at the bar is usually Early Happy hour till about the time the 'club' going people start to show up out. About that time i'm usually pretty boufried and stumble my arse home catching some quick grub on the way. A lot of times that is a fried breast and small fry at Brother's on Carondelet
