Currently planning our wedding.
Rented out old cotton gin for the reception. For amenities, bar service with beer and wine only, food for 150 or so people, live 7 person band, flowers and decor, and all the little shite like tables, dinnerware, cake, etc it’s gonna run about 30k.
Me and her are splitting the cost on most items. She is paying for the flowers and decor, I paid for the honeymoon. Everything else is 50/50. My parents paid for the band and rehearsal dinner. Her parents are dead unfortunately her mom died before I knew her and her dad died unexpectedly right after we started dating. She got a 7 figure inheritance but we agreed to split the wedding and after paying for our house in full so we are debt free we put the rest in safe investments for retirement and the benefit of any children we end up having

Wife and I got engaged and we got married 5 days later. We walked up to Rowan oak in Oxford, had a judge marry us with about 7 ppl. Her dad paid for the meal and pictures so I think around a couple hundred.
Wife and I think people are crazy dropping that amount of money for 5 hrs.

-Wedding/reception = $60k. Her parents.
-Honeymoon = $7k. Me and totally worth it.
-Rehearsal dinner = $4k. My parents.
Her dad put money into accounts 20+ years ago to cover his daughters weddings. Take that advice.
My kids are screwed. They can go elope in Vegas like their parents did

What’s funny is my 30k dollar wedding is small for around here. Delta weddings are huge glamorous events usually costing 6 figures because all the farmers simply want to show how much farm loan money they can blow through on their daughters wedding

we aren’t doing anything crazy. Public venue, mid range bar, not a fancy rehearsal dinner.
Weddings, like everything, are going to bend you over post-covid. They were already a ripoff with crazy markup, and now it’s up 30%.
Same here. It will be nice, but nothing we are doing is over the top. Mid tier alcohol package, etc. I can't imagine what these people must spend when I see these videos/photos on social media where people have these massive centerpieces and whatnot.

Same here. My dad is an aggressive saver. Always has been insanely financially smart, so things like paying for college or wedding have always been planned for and saved for.

$50k, not including honeymoon, dress, or our hotel. Combination of her parents, my parents (rehearsal dinner and flowers), and us. 175 guests, and we aren’t doing anything crazy. Public venue, mid range bar, not a fancy rehearsal dinner.
I can’t figure out the math on this one

Welcome event the night before and wedding ~$110k +/- a few. Does not include dress, rings, tux, flights, hotels, etc. Wife paid. ~50 people wedding.
Honeymoon will be around ~$40k. I've paid for a significant portion of that.
FWIW, I would have been fine with eloping.

In the process of doing this now.
I think it's gonna be around 20-25k. Her parents and Uncle are paying for a lot of it.
I'm gonna cover my groomsmen stuff, and the Honeymoon. I've got like $5k saved up for that now, trying to get another $2-3k saved up before I start paying for those things.
Wedding is next April.

10k. We paid for it ourselves.

Wedding and reception, about $25k. I paid for it (I’m the bride). My mom is widowed and doesn’t have that kind of money. I’m a professional that got married in my 30s so, I had to bank roll it.
Dress - my mom bought it. About $1000. Her way of contributing, which was a lovely and appreciated gesture.
Rehearsal dinner - husband’s parents. It was very nice. Would guess $5000-$8000.
Honeymoon- my husband. Probably about $8000.

Go to the JOP and save the money for a celebration party and honeymoon. Everyone will thank you.

$600.00, most of which was for catered ribs. We paid for it. My in-laws, however, provided their home as the venue and did all the decorating. Best money I've spent in the past twenty years. Got a wonderful wife and great in-laws in the deal!

Ours was a small ceremony of 50 people with immediate family and best friends. We put everyone up in a cabin near the lake. It was 5K. We paid for everything.

Love these responses. Some people actually want to have a big reception, and some of us aren’t so poor that it isn’t a one or the other wedding or save situation.
Hehehe....there's no accounting for a lack of sense.
