If someone put a gun to your head and told you not to mention the fact that you smoke weed, the gun would go off.

Still doesn’t clarify much since most ATMs have a limit on withdrawal and most banks only have so much actual cash that they would have to order the amount you want ahead of time
But I get the direction you are going, I keep maybe $1000 extra in my checking after bills. Every other dime goes to high yield savings or investments

I’ll never understand people who take pride in being aloof and having to be babysat by another adult

Ask me in about 6 months. About to do a renovation at a price that I could have bought a second home 5 years ago

None. Lost it all in a boating accident.

I keep 6 months in a high interest savings account.

What do you consider savings? Money sitting in a bank account collecting pennies in interest while the world around us is inflating away? As little as possible. Money in investment accounts? A lot more

My autistic 22 yo son has about $22,000 saved up in his checking account.
He has a part time job and only buys snacks and Beatles albums.

Money in savings account or
brokerage accounts as well?
This.
He left off cash in a safe and gold/silver in case anything happened and the US dollar was useless. Don’t forget ammo. Ammo may be the most valuable in an Apocalyptic Event.

Money we could access within a day or three, about 6 months of gross income. Which is probably about 6.5 months of spending these days.

I keep about $40k in a HYSA and have the rest in brokerage accounts that I could sell my holdings at any moment.
I’m thinking about downgrading the $40k in my savings to about $10k and put the other $30k in my brokerage accounts.

Roughly 5 average months in a HYSA. Given a 7% YOY return average and ~3.5% average yearly inflation, we are covered indefinitely with the rest.
