OP expects us to believe he is just starting out with 80k salary, but he isn't smart enough to figure out a budget? He is probably 14 and has dreams of grandeur of what he will be making when he becomes the manager at Pizza Hut.

I started out low 70's a few years back and had a new economy car, a reliable truck and a nice house and most of the toys I wanted and was putting decent money in my 401k. As a single guy in south LA , 80k is a shitload of money.
Now if you go out and buy a $70k truck and a mcmansion you'll be broke.

I agree, that is where the balance comes into play. Budget yourself some fun nights out/hobby/ect, but still allow yourself some to save.

Not true. I wanted to get an idea of how much you should make to live on the fringe of nice things if your spending is under control.

Good, because that would be a super weird brag.
And to be clear, you’re not going to land your first job at anything close to $80k, so you may as well be more realistic with your questions.
