I think it will have some kind of integration with Starlink, will eventually launch telecommunications, and will become even more of a de-facto town square. With Tesla Autopilot and full self-driving AI innovation, I think that too will be woven in as well as continued AI development in general.

He has openly discussed this plus financial integration, etc….

He will hold it until that project is dead, not based on advertising dollars today, generally speaking

sounds exactly like another guy we know.

Donald Trump. Celebrities and people loved Trump until he ran for president and a switch flipped.

The change in moderation is what made the platform better overall.

I'm a big Elon fan, but that was the worst financial fumble ever. Nobody has lost that amount of money that quick. It's wild the amount of money that he has the ability to lose.

Are we all missing that his long term vision isn’t just 140 characters but a one stop super app for all things life and the availability of twitter was just a fast track to building that out?

Yeah, I’m not smart enough to predict or articulate what will happen, but Musk seems to have much bigger plans for this platform.

And say what you want, but X is now the dominant social media platform. And it’s not close. It has way bigger reach and engagement than any of the traditional corporate media outlets. They are fast becoming obsolete.

I mean it's unrealized losses, but I'm hoping he has a long term vision and succeeds, it would be nice for the market to remember long term results are important too.

he fundamentally changed the platform and kicked over the hornet's nest of shrieking, hysterical progressives who, in true hive-mind-like fashion put out the word to DESTROY it.

yet here we are, a year later and revenues are returning and X is still the One site where all communication takes place from average Joes, to government figures and corporate press releases.

X will be fine in the long term. Revenues are already rebounding and everyone likes a winner and X is still far and away #1 in its category.

According to Similar web it's the 3rd most visited website surpassing facebook and instagram - only google and youtube ahead of it....advertisers will be forced to come back if they want to chase views

exactly. very tough to say the #3 most visited site on the web is in danger of failing despite the media 'want brigade' trying to tell you otherwise.

no longer publicly reports its earnings, but Emarketer, a market research agency, estimated that last year, X lost about 52 percent of its U.S. advertising revenue, which dropped to $1.13 billion. The firm predicted X’s losses would slow to a 2.5 percent decrease this year.

If they don’t have access to actual numbers, what are the estimates based on?

I hope he drives it into the fricking ground and they have to close down. Social media is one of the worst things ever invented.

Yea I mean I was 100% fine with him doing this and was glad he bought it.

I mean in just one year, it was worth 19B less than when he bought it. Now it's supposedly worth 75% less than when he bought it. It's kind of hard to wrap your brain around a loss that big. He might have more people visiting more than Facebook and Twitter but the stock price is still down YTD and those visits aren't bringing in the ads. If you were a stock holder when Elon took over, you'd be happy and I'd have a hard time imagining that I'd ever see a ROI.

But if it's #1 in the category and continues to bleed money, that's not a good outlook for the long term.

I personally don't get on Twitter/X nearly as much as I used to. So just on a personal level I don't like it as much even though in theory I should like it more. Even before he started allowing NSFW content which I'm not a fan of, I was getting way more bots and NSFW content. I never had NSFW content prior to a year or so ago. Mrs. Iwy doesn't have X and we would sit and scroll from time to time on mine and it's a little awkward to scroll nd then just titties and arse pop up on your feed. I'm like yea I don't care to see this, much less with my wife

Seems more and more like he bought it as a bastion of free speech knowing that it’s the fastest to user news platform in the world and now that he owns it we can receive uncensored news.

As a principle I applaud him and only losers would pick on him for losing money on it, even if he is. He’s doing fine enough without it and become a huge populist icon because of it
