true, but ...we can buy new for $50K and lose $12-15k over the next few years or buy a three-year-old truck and lose $3-5k over the next few years.
with that said, of course, not everything is about optimizing financial outcomes but it makes more financial sense to buy used.

I'm not gay so don't have a truck, not that there is anything wrong with that..

Why give yourself debt when you dont have to?
I dont get why someone who has no car/truck note would want to make a car payment just to have that sweet lifted truck.

Good for you.
I would never buy a vehicle with 95k on it
Everyone is different though.
My first car was a used car with only 18k on it.

Rocket I totally agree 100% with your premise.
I am however a car guy. That's my shite. Some people drink to they are puking every weekend, some folks waste it on hookers and blow, some on pokemon cards, and hell even on sporting events.
My shite is cars. Therefore thats where my no allocated funds go to.
I still fill my 401k, I still maintain a healthy brokerage acct. , and I still have that fricking eth holding

Yea I guess you're higher in society than me. I'm more of a realist and try to think about what if I loose my leg and can't pay my note? I'll just be back at square one, taking my invested money out with penalty so I don't lose my wheels.

It's a Toyota. I could put 300k on it if I wanted.
Considering I sit and work in an office daily, I have access to the L, Uber, and we tend to fly wherever we vacation - why would I want a brand new car or a $400, $500 monthly note? I can't say I've ever opened the mailbox and thought to myself, "Gee...I wish I had another $400 bill in here."
I'll buy cheap(er) and invest the rest or pad the Roth.

I definitely have white privilege bro. It's called military retirement.

And it isn't just a $400.00 monthly note. Factor in your insurance, maintenance, and gas, then recalculate and get your monthly payment. I just had to explain this shite to my daughter.

Maybe because people like me who are car nuts enjoy a nice car?
People pay extra monthly on their vices. Why is that okay but not a car?

Have a car and a truck.
And own both
And own both
