I have an 06 single cab tundra for the SO but the rear end is going out and I kinda wanted to trade it in for something with more room.
To the guy who drives cars and bashes truck drivers, I'm a country boy. We pull shite with our trucks, leave the asphalt, use it as a truck not a Cadillac.
To ole company man shorty, I just left a job that gave me a company truck. I used it for work. I didn't parade around and act like it was my truck.
As far a paying for a house on cash, no but I am about to put 50% down and a house we are building.
I'm not looking for jump in for 50k for a truck, I don't want to pay 30k lol. I drive a 2001 beat up farm truck. I just want the wife yo have a decent truck with low miles and 4x4 and more room than a single cab. She drives a lot. Before you fruit cakes ask, yes she will be pulling a boat, she hunts, shoots a bow better than you all because she's native american, can drive a tractor and you're not getting any pics! But thanks for the replies.
My dad just bought a pretty nice 2011 chevy silverado 4x4 extended cab with just over 100K miles on Not fully loaded, but nicely equipped. paid $10,500 for it, financed the entire amount , $350 a month for 3 years. Just to give you an idea

r. Lease preferably, finance second. Don't pay cash...
Buy a more modest, used car.
Invest and/or save the rest.

Why do people pay cash for vehicles when interest rates are so low? If rates were 5-6%, sure, pay cash. Not when they're 2%

Paid cash for mine 8 years ago. It always shocks me when someone has a $500 note and $200 insurance payment every month just to have something to drive around.

C'mon man, you're one of those guys?. The advice i was given is solid advice for principals dude. It's just saying not to get everything you can and WANT just because you can get it on credit. Of course you will have a house note and hospital bills.

You can thank cash for clunkers for that. So many decent cars that could have made perfectly serviceable vehicles in the $1-2K range were destroyed , and what did that accomplish ? Oh that's right, it caused a supply shortage of used vehicles which caused prices to go up.
Liberals REALLY hate poor people. Sorry to make a political statement in this forum, but it's a truth related to your post.

I was able to recently purchase a 2011 Highlander w/ 95k miles on it for $12,300.
Let's say a truck note is $450.00 a month. One year in, and you're already close to halfway ($5,400) to my full purchase price.

Actually, it was terrible advice. If interest rates are low , financing and using your capital to invest is the smart play. I suppose I could have written a check for my truck, but why when the interest rate is 0%?

Thanks, this is similar to what I had in mind. 500 a month seems outrageous to me. The one vehicle I did finance I had a $238 note.
