How much is Jeep paying for positive coverage of the 2018 Wrangler?

Maybe nothing. Maybe auto journalists are just pre-disposed to gush about a new vehicle.

Almost every review on youtube is glowing. Doug Demuro’s video is effectively a 30 minute ad for the Wrangler.

Idk but it really sucks that such a once reliable and badass vehicle has fallen victim to Chrystler’s shitty way of building vehicles. The Jeep brand has suffered.

It looks like a nice rig. Would rather that money into an old Defender though.

it's cool that it's reliable but the more important question is how many of your sorority sisters can you fit in it?

Why what’s wrong with 170hp? It’ll go 0-60 eventually.

I loved my JK but it was pathetic trying to merge on the interstate or even fight a head wind

I’m done buying new ones. My 2004 is still driving great. If anything I’d buy an old scrambler to fix up. They need to get back into the pickup market. Put a small diesel in one and a manual transmission.

It is an update of an icon, it will get a lot of deference for that reason. It is also a very niche vehicle with very little direct competition. The Jeep Scrambler pickup with see the same initial buzz when it debuts. When the buzz dies down it will likely be like all the other recent Wranglers, no fricks given by 99% of the buying public.

Seriously? It’s pretty obvious why the JL is getting great press. It is that much better than all of its predecessors and it has no competition.

I bought a 93 Defender 110 County when they first came back to the US. While the panel gaps were visible from space it is one of the coolest vehicles I have owned. The new Defender is supposed to come to the US again.

Doug’s video was mainly praising how much better it is than previous wranglers, not so much saying that it is a truly great vehicle. He said it is weak and overpriced.
