Agreed. But it would be nice for them to make the D44 standard. The 35 is fine, but having a 44 front and back would be great.
As far as I am aware they have had the 44's in the rear for all the the 2007 and newer models.
The Rubicon gives you a 44 in the front, opposed to a 30, but unless you are going bigger than 35, the new d30 works just fine.
Rubi also gives you the low gear in the Tcase, which most people dont need, 4.10 gears(Gearing options are the most needed in the sub rubi models), and their shitty elockers. I believe everything else is available in sub models

That 4.0 inline six was a beast.
Had a YJ with a 4.2 - one of the worse engines ever
Had a TJ with a 4.0 - Improvement
Have JK with 3.6 Penta - Best Jeep engine so far.

There are a few dealers around the country that do 5%-7% under invoice.
There is a dealer in Indiana that basically specializes in factory orders for wranglers. They do it for a set rate under msrp and include delivery around the country. initial rollout will probably be like the JK though with very long lead times for orders. I think they were around 9 months until late '08

You will have as much luck finding a unicorn as finding a new Rubicon for $41k or less.
I just built one on their website for 35k.
Now, that is the JK still, but I'm sure the JL won't be 10k more.
ETA: prices were released yesterday. 2 door base Rubicon is $38,190, 4 door base Rubicon is $41,690.

brand new Rubicon Hardrock Unlimited with all of the features he wanted (leather, towing, heated seats, manual, etc)
Ditto.
Around $41,000. Going with manual saved a couple thousand, since it came with 4.10 gears as well.
Running tires that mounted run about 34" and still can use 6th gear.

My husband ordered a brand new Rubicon Hardrock Unlimited with all of the features he wanted (leather, towing, heated seats, manual, etc) 2 years ago. His was around 40k iirc. Course...maybe him getting a manual transmission (which you can only really get now if you specially order) lowered the price?
I'm sure that was part of it. The new JL Rubicon starts a $40,500 with No options. Throw in a few options and Diesel be it will be near/above $60k.

So now it is including an engine that doesn't exist and what other options?
You will be able to get a rubi for 40k in 18 months.

Rumor is that it is coming, but from what I know there isn't an actual option yet.
That 370hp 4cyl tho...

It was pretty easy and the new hemis are becoming more prevalent in scrap yards. you can find a 5.7 truck motor and trans for good deals now. Besides the welding, everything else is fairly easy to do in the swap.

This was from an article two weeks ago

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL has debuted in Los Angeles with three engine options, two body styles, and a refined, upscale cabin.
Three different engines will be offered this next-generation Wrangler: a 3.6-liter V6, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6. An eight-speed automatic is the only option available with 2.0-liter turbo and 3.0-liter Diesel models, however 3.6-liter models can be ordered with a six-speed manual or with the automatic.
quote:
The 2.0-liter engine, which is related to the Global Medium Engine found in the Alfa Romeo Giulia, makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It features a mild electrical system dubbed eTorque, which aids the operation of the auto stop/start system and also allows for engine shutoff during coasting or deceleration. The familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar engine returns and is making the same 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque as before. The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine, which will be available starting in 2019, makes 262 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.

They had a diesel in the JK models, but engine wasnt rated for US emissions specifically in the JK, this one is[JL]. It will be an option

It's also a $5,000 option for Cherokee

It’s already in the trucks but they had to put a hold on it to get it reapproved by the EPA after emissions cheating allegations came up.

Thing is badass. I will wait a year as I generally don't buy first year vehicles.
