you will have to get hoa approval for this and they will require the 25000$ option. And if you do it unapproved, they will find out out and fine you 200$ per day for the previous 5 years.

fill the pool with structural fill dirt for stability in case something is built on it one day

This seems like a waste of money

but in Baton Rouge does anyone know if you need a permit to do this?

go rent some power equipment, bust it up yourself, throw the busted up concrete into the bottom of the pool, bust up the bottom of the pool, buy some loads of dirt and fill it in.

How the hell would anyone know about this in the future, and why would anyone care?

a permit.....

I don't even think any busting is required.

Not once, ever, have i said man i sure wish i didn’t have my pool.

The kids have a blast swimming in it. It’s amazing to jump in after cutting the grass. Had bitches naked in it. Pool parties with friends over.

You cray to want to get rid of it

We had an inground fiberglass pool growing up....my dad installed it sometime in the 80's and we had a blast with it all through my high school years......it cracked a few too many times and once my sister and I moved out it wasnt worth it for him to keep repairing it, so it lasted about 20 years and he had enough and filled it in and made a nice green space.

Maybe you could just build a nice deck over it. Link to article with pics

Sometimes I can appreciate myself being a practical individual.

I opted for the above ground pool for the kiddos. When it came time for the ole pool to retire, it was gone in a couple of hours.

If I ever do it again, it'll be a half in, half above pool.

No where near as nice as an inground, not much of a PITA to get rid of.

My daughter/son in law got rid of theirs. Took up concrete around the pool and down to about 4 feet. Broke the rest up so water would not pool. Filled up with dirt/topsoil. 6500.00

It would be funny if whoever OP eventually sells to wants to put in a pool.

For some reason, I figured you would be an above ground pool type of guy.

Might be able to make some kind of cellar/shelter before you cover it.. just to throw ideas out there. It might be hell to keep the water out tho

Pools rarely help house valuation. The market of people wanting to frick with a pool is smaller.

Really depends on the target demographic and the pool type/age. A 25 year old kidney shape with white plaster and old equipment won’t do shite to the value either way.

For my house, the $150k new pool and landscaping renovation added about $100k in value. I’d have spent $200k on it if necessary, as I really wanted it, but I’d have loved to find a similar house with a decked out pool + lawn and privacy landscaping in the city. It just wasn’t in the cards. Houses like this with nice pools go quick because many in this demographic want them but don’t want the hell of the building process.

But re: filling in a pool—what a savage thing to do. Unless that thing is fricked up beyond repair, I can’t imagine robbing the world of a pool. You might as well go out and poison an old growth tree while you’re at it.
