I'm giving it one more operator interview before I decide on either PTEC school or another trade. What do welders generally make per hour? And what would their jobs typically consist of? TIA.

Might even grow a trash stache or something if I go that route. Try and fit in.

There's a lot of variables that determine how much they make.

After trade school are you willing to buy a truck, a camper, turn it into a rig and live on the road?

Our top welders make $23.50 an hour. That's in a yard with benefits. Contract welders make $32-40 mostly with no benefits.

Shipyard welders may be in the bottom of a double bottom gouging out a weld in a shite tank. Contract maintenance welder in a plant may make 1 weld a month and get paid to play pedro the rest of the time.

Wouldn't be worth my time to make 23.50 an hour. I make more than that now working as a dock operator.

I really wouldn't know the first thing about what kinda path I would be taking. I'm just brainstorming right now because I'm tired of this nepotism BS.
