We split the Lawyer cost. Roughly around $1,000. We split the profit on the house we sold and split the stuff in the house. We were civil throughout the divorce. She didn’t ask for anything extra. She didn’t go after my retirement. I do have to pay $500 in child support every month

Young, no kids, no real assets. $750.00, my half of the lawyer fees.

A buddy of mine spent six figures after his soon to be ex decided she was entitled to more. She ended up with a third of what he offered for an amiable settlement before family members and lawyers got in her ear.

The actual divorce was cheep. $500 or so. The child support that the cheating spouse cost me, $250,000 easily. I know some people may say that the money went to my children. bullshite. I still paid health insurance, cars, car insurance, sports, braces, any extracurricular activities, which were on top of the (extorsion) I mean child support. And she was the one caught and admitted cheating with her boss. La. law is fricked up!

I bet that feels pretty good.

She certainly can’t invade my peace anymore. Expensive outcome but that is the upside.

One time she was pissing and loaning about something and I started walking away. She says “I’m not done talking” and my response was “well, I’m finished listening” and kept walking.

We did the divorce with no lawyers. It was less than $2k. Plus whatever she got to keep.
I ended up good but that's because I didn't put her name on my house.
You can do everything without lawyers if it's an uncontested divorce without kids.

$2,000. We worked it out ourselves and had a law firm put it into legalese. Part of that $2K was the QDRO for her getting my supplemental retirement account. I got 50/50 custody of my kids with no child support and kept 100% of my pension. If you can work it out yourselves, you'll both walk away with more money than you will by fighting. Although, to be fair, when I got divorced my wife and I were making within $1,000/year of each other, so there was no income disparity to overcome.

Pretty much all I had at 36yo. She was cheating while I busted my arse to provide. But it all worked out 28 years later…lol
