Worked in Roswell, Ga in summer of 1984 in blazing temps in a ditch on a pipeline for $6.00 hour. And, paid over $11.00/day to sleep in a tent at a KOA. .

Min wage was 3.75. We were paid 4.50. Later on , min wage brought everyone up to 5.15 an hour.

In 1955 as a 14 year old soda jerk in a drug store, I was paid 75¢ per hour.

Not per hour but I made $12 per day helping a farmer plant soybeans and plow fields. Used to check rice field levees until o happened upon a bunch of water moccasins mating. Walked home and never did that again.
Sometimes we would work 16 hour days. Free food and soda all day and AM radio on the tractor.
