have you done an itemized budget for why you keep the cash on hand? seems that would guide this decision.

I keep it on hand because I travel for work and I'm gone many weeks of the year. If something were to happen, my wife can fix it in cash

Also occasionally gamble out of it

Having come through Katrina I like to have enough cash immediately on hand to get a tank of gas, and get me through a few days of hotels and restaurants.

So you took her credit cards away? Good move.

All of it.

Banks, credit unions, and other such financial institutions aren't to be trusted.
Bunch of thieving greedy Jews.

Whatever is in my wallet?

I have a bunch of currencies at home but it is leftover from global trips. Maybe $100-200 across all of them.

Normally between 3-4k.

I did get robbed 2 years ago. frickers took the whole safe.

I've had to come up with more unique hiding places for my rolls.

Such a mistake to be known for keeping large amounts of cash at home and having a safe.
