My dad and sister used to cake mayo on a slice of bread and eat just that. I still have to fight off the urge to hit them if I think about that in their presence.

frick mayonnaise.

Ranch is cool, though.

Hellmans mayo is so good on sliced tomatoes, canned peaches and canned pineapple rings. And on any sandwich.

Is your fear of the white sauce tied to any life event?

J/k

Everyone has their weird hangups with food. I hate pickles for some reason. Can't stand the smell of them

Young people like my daughter somehow seem to have extrapolated this masking function from condiment to culture; for them, mayo quite literally whitewashed America’s immigrants into eating dull food. And newer generations are refusing to meekly fall in line with a culinary heritage that never was theirs. Instead, they’re gobbling up kefir and ajvar and chimichurri and gochujang again.

As a millennial, I have no idea what the hell this crazy person is talking about.

I suppose I was as po as my dad and sister.

I still had the decency to eat pickle and mustard foldovers.

Mayo has its uses, but I find what drives mayo hate is fast food restaurants that put it on everything (no matter how many times you tell them not to) and always put way too much. A little mayo is good, but too much mayo destroys a sandwich and covers up the flavors of the other ingredients. The problem is that fast food workers don't care or understand, so they always drown every sandwich in mayo. Because people get used to only eating "too much" mayo, they hate it.

Mayo is best on a boiled ham po boy, on a samwich made the day after Thanksgiving with leftover turkey on white bread, and with a creole tomato.
