Or get a real EV
I rode in a "real EV" the other day.
Honestly, it was terrifying. They are so fast and so zippy and the person was just crossing 2 lanes at a time.
They can go fast.
But they just cannot beat the range of an ICE engine.
And also th quietness of them is unsettling

Once. When I get to my destination. 12 hr drives only to refuel and pee.

I hate driving long distances.
Back and forth to Shreveport for a quick post-surgery appointment was around eight hours. I stopped in Natchitoches and got Popeye's on the way back. Don't remember on the way.
I had hernia surgery several years ago. Was having the need to piss constantly. That wasn't fun, especially before I knew it was a hernia and could be fixed.

I always start with one 44oz Diet Coke, and load up on more bottles. Coffee too if a morning trip.
The empty 44oz cup transitions to a portable urinal as the trip progresses. Traffic will inevitably slow down, at which the pee is dumped outside the window.
Repeat as necessary.

Once I am going, I don't want to stop until I am there. I hate breaking up the momentum.
With two stops, you turning a 5 hr drive into a 5.5 hr drive and if I stopped then got stuck in traffic at some point after I will get irrationally mad and think about if I wouldn't have stopped I would have passed that area before it started backing up.

If I'm driving 5 hours by myself I try to fill up the night before and see if I can make it under 4-1/2
Try to only get out to get gas and I'll take a piss and grab a snack and see if I can be back in the truck before the gas tank is full.
If I'm with my wife and Kids I'm stopping 3+ times at a minimum

I never said it was a 5 hour trip. 2:45 depending on traffic. So yea, I'd have to stop for 30 mins or so for a 5 hour trip.
The other stuff? Too quite? Too fast you get scared? Ok man.

We drive to CO each summer. I do 8 hour days. I've done up to 16, but I try to keep it to 8 for the kids. When I stop is determined more by them than by me, but I try to find good stops that aren't just a gas station or fast food. I look up community parks and weird roadside stops. Check LINK / for a good list. You can search by state.
When I moved to Colorado it was me and my dad. The drive through Kansas was absolutely brutal. We made plans to stop at Fort Hayes State Historic Site and spent about an hour walking around and learning history. You people that make so stops are absolutely insane, unless its work related or you need to be somewhere at a certain time. Another good stop was Oklahoma Joe's BBQ. Amazing stop, great BBQ. Some of you insane drivers wouldn't even think about stopping somewhere like that bc your obsessed to get the drive over with. Slow down and live life . Damn!

Zero. Pee before you leave.

By myself, assuming I left with a full tank, its all interstate and have a decent book on audio, zero. Once at most.

Lol, depends on what you’re going for. I drove 10 hours to Ft. Benning and stopped once for gas.

The OP did though. That was the premise.
Look...I don't hate EVs. I wasn't expecting the speed or power the other day and didn't trust the other person to handle it.
But I was impressed.
But their range and the charging time don't impress me at all.
If you never left the city or the general area and had a fast charger at home it would be a phenomenal vehicle.
It you lived somewhere like England? Sure, they don't have the vast distances we do.
But on our vacations we might say "oh it's only 800 miles to the cabin, we can make it in 11 hours with gas stops."
You'd be spending 5x or more with charging stops on that trip.
The battery and range tech just isn't there for efficient distance travel.

Drove 8 hours straight today.

5????
Zero times unless I’m traveling with a person who would like to stop. In that case, I stop because it’s not a big deal to stop if they would like that.
