Once. Fill up, pee, grab snack

Had to drive back to South Carolina from DC a couple years back when I had Covid because I wasn’t going to be allowed to fly with the vid. Got a rental and stopped just once for gas and made it home in 7 and a half hours. My best ever time. The coffee and water was burning up immediately from the fever so didn’t have to piss once. Was proud of that drive
Was essentially my Jordan flu game.

I just drove back from Montana. 2200 miles I would stop every 500 miles.

I’ve done Orlando to BR on two stops for gas and a piss. Drove an RV full of lawyers back from the SEC CG circa 2003 or so. Straight through from Atlanta to BR after the game.
OTOH, the older I’ve gotten, the slower I’ve gotten. I’ll pretty much stop for anything these days. Boudin in Krotz Springs going/coming on a Shreveport run. Pies at Lea’s when they’re open. Pretty sure I’ve never passed a Buc’ees without stopping. At least since stopping there the first time.

in the 90s i drove from Raleigh NC to Starkville MS, about 690 miles, and stopped once just outside Atlanta
and i can definitely drive 5 hours w/o stopping today
but if i get on the road late, or i’m tired for any reason, i’ll definitely stop in a rest area for a power nap

You drive 60 in the left lane in the interstate.

I get almost 600 miles on a tank of diesel driving 80+ on the interstate. I can drive for days

It's 4.5 to 5 hour from my house in Houston to my parents in BR. If I'm solo and have a full tank of gas, I'm not stopping.
If I have my dog with me, I'll stop once so he can pee even though he'd probably be fine.
If I have my wife with me I'm stopping 3 times minimum, and I'm not happy about it.
Every time I have to "re-pass" some slow driver that I passed an hour ago I mutter under my breath.

I typically drive twice the speed limit so I get there in half the time and saves a ton in gas.

Once. Anymore and you are a woman.
Posted on 6/6/25 at 2:53 pm to Odysseus32
If I am alone, zero times. If i have the family with me 7-10 times.

I can drive about 2 hrs, then I'm, in pain. But I'm over 80. I'm a flat butted guy with little natural cushion. Don't know it that contributes.
I try to avoid long trips.
