I employ a lot of people and I can guarantee you it's more than most people would guess. They don't even hide it anymore. It's like they tell you so you don't expect too much from them. And if they are taking that stuff they are also doing some recreational drugs as well.

This is lazy. The same thing was said about the radio, the newspaper, the magazine, the TV, etc. There is a choice to connectivity of any sort, but most people are too weak to do easy shite like turn off notifications.

None of those things had an ever available stream of whatever the hell you want 24/7 with hundreds of apps created with the hope of getting people addicted. Your oversimplification is the lazy statement if anything.

People are not normal today. Seems so many need some type of med.

Whenever I'm asked the standard medical question:
"Can you tell me which medications you are prescribed to take?"

When I tell them i take nothing other than a multivitamin, I get the feeling that they don't hear that very often.

At least 50%.

I handle my stress and anxiety the old fashioned way. I self medicate with alcohol.

How? You could easily (or at least I could) lose most of a day reading sh1t that has no bearing on your life in a library. The radio was available, what, 18 hours a day "back in the day" (at least AFN was for us?) There's been 24 hour radio with contests to keep you interested late at night.

*You* choose to pick up the next vintage comic book, watch movies you've seen 10 times before late at night, watch one more episode of Yellowstone to re-watch the whole thing for the finale, *you* choose that. There have been 1,000 articles from everyone from the WSJ to the DailyMail on how to cut your social media addictions, which most people don't pay attention to (see, nearly everyone on Reddit.) But I also addressed this by mentioning that I specifically turn off notifications, which you blew by. Look at your email inbox leading up to Thanksgiving and now. You've been being manipulated for decades by all forms of advertising, push and pull. Do you remember Marketing 3401?

Back on the ADD/anxiety track, self control and self regulation are key to limiting anxiety, with anything. Can you be happy with one line of coke, three beers, or whatever, or can you not resist? That is also social media.

Say we all agree it's the "always on" cycle. That started with CNN in 1990/1991 with the gulf war, fancy graphics, an endless stream of experts at all times of day. What's the excuse? Only a few of us knew what social media took the form of back in that day. Could I have replied endlessly to BBS messages over my modem? Yeah, I could have, but didn't. The person has a choice. When they've been raised by parents that have thrown iPads at them to shut them up, and reinforced feedback loops of colors, flashing lights, catchy songs, can you expect much out of "today's generation?" No, but it's easily preventable and correctable.

Have some agency over your lives, people.

It's interesting that some of the people that criticize daily weed smokers like myself are usually the same ones that probably have several psych med prescriptions.

Everyone? Well I really do, and it’s ok if you don’t believe it.
ADHD is severely overdiagnosed. The meds for it making you feel better is not diagnostic as almost anyone who took them would be able to focus better.

The testing for ADHD is ridiculous as well. Self report screenings are easy to answer in order to get a positive result.

My Dr could see I was stressing and put me on Welbutrin, I actually like it and think I had some undiagnosed condition it fixed.

Wellbutrin is awesome. It also doesn’t have to terrible side effects of most other antidepressants. No weight gain, sexual dysfunction, etc. Glad you found help

I take 2 mg of Klonopin on Sundays and 1 on Wednesdays. Have done so for 10+ years and my tolerance hasn’t gone up nor have I taken it on other days. Helps with hangovers on Sunday

They need chemicals to help them cope. Men from the 1940s would call them an embarrassment.

Men from the 40s were all addicted to tobacco. If it wasn't for the cancer risk, that would still be the norm.

I’m never going to the doctor ever again. All you have to do is not eat carbs and go to the gym. If you need a pill to do your job that is God telling you to get a different job

This.

I’m asthmatic so once or twice a year when I catch one if the winter bugs that triggers my asthma, I’ll go to the doc for some prednisone to knock it so I can get back to being active and workouts, but otherwise don’t take any meds at all except vitamins / supplements and swallow some ivermectin for cancer prevention when I give it to my beagles.

We’re all profit slaves to Big Food/Pharma.

Future is nutrition and wholistic medicine vs siloed specialists that never talk to each other and are focused on eating what they kill re prescribing meds or performing procedures vs your overall health.

I travel a fair amount to West Africa, India, etc... I often tell my wife and my mother in law.... there are entire countries where no one is on anything for ADD or anxiety meds or relying on some supplement or special drink to take a shite.

America has the most over medicated/pussified population on this planet.

I’ve slowly backed up to the lowest dose there is and have been there the last few years.

I’ve done the same. Actually been on the lowest dose for about five years. I’ve been taking psych meds for right about 30 years, overall. I’ve thought of trying to wean completely, but I’m afraid that my brain chemistry wouldn’t take kindly to it. I haven’t been to a psychiatrist in over four years, but the last time I went, she told me that what I was taking now was really no more than placebo.
