I just want to use this opportunity to say best wishes to those in the path. Please heed the calls for evacuation if applicable, and may none of y'all suffer any property damage.

Godspeed

Man, I'm so glad I moved off of the Gulf Coast. I'll take a blizzard any day of the week. This looks really scary, praying for everyone in the path. Things can be replaced, it will just take time and patience. Don't stick around if you don't absolutely have to.

TheOcean. I've already called dibs on his posting privileges, screen name, and $20k for upkeep expenses.

Gainesville, FL. Got some damage from Helene, and may get some from Milton. Nothing like what people on the coast or up in NC got, though. I went to get some gas this morning and all they had was premium - I don't know if they are shunting supply to the evacuation areas or what, but I hope people are able to get out of there if they choose to do so.

Currently in the projected bulls-eye (Cape Canaveral beach) for Milton's exit from FL to the Atlantic - forecast to be Cat-1 strength at that point - if the trend for a more southerly path is accurate, the wrap-around onshore winds will create a 3'-5' surge which may be a record for this locale - hope to avoid max surge coinciding with high tide.

Pretty much resigned to a lot of strong winds and heavy rain - and hoping the almost certain power outage(s) are short duration and don't last for days.

Regardless of any less than optimal outcomes, FEMA can KMA - I don't want or need any of their "help".

I have a close friend in Odessa that I’ve been checking in on.

Anyone evacuating there?

Probably a few, but not many at least in my neighborhood.
