No financial help from parents but made a damn good living for yourself and can pass it on to your kids? How’d you get there?

Yeah, this thread will produce a lot of fake alphas.

I literally lived in a pinto with my mom. I hope to leave my kids a lot. We shall see.

Got financial help from parents through college, but after that it was apparent my degree was worthless so I picked up a skilled trade from an acquaintance and worked my way up over the last 18 years and am doing quite well.
No family connections, no nepotism.

My parents did pay for my college tuition, which at the time was about $2G/ year.
Other than that, that's been it.
Now, I'm paying for my kids college tuition, which is about $12G/ year.

Lived with my parents through high school and they gave me some help the first two years of college but that was it. I have done pretty well and my kids will get something which is more than I can say of my parents. I will probably be paying for them before it is all over.

Self made. So much so that I now employ my dad, little brother, and last year had my sister on the payroll.

My parents have me a significant amount of advantages and I was able to do better than they did, which I assume pleases them immensely.

You don’t know my struggles! Sometimes I run out of trust fund draws on the 25th of the month and have to wait a week to buy shite.

I wouldn’t say I made a damn good living as I’m pretty middle class but
Neither of my parents finished high school. I went to rural Louisiana public school. Nobody in my immediate family went to college. Qualified for TOPs but didn’t take it to join the military.
Spent 4 years in the military. Got out and played college football. Finished a BS in 3 years and put a year towards my MS. I make a modest income doing a job I love in the field I studied in college.
Most of the other kids I grew up around have been locked up several times, or OD’d and died.
