Thanks to the kind folks who like to donate to a homeless, able-bodied male who happens to drive a Corvette and lives on Highland.

God bless.

Pretty much...but I’m no baller unless middle class is baller status. My parents raised me to leave home at 18. They were always willing to help but I was also too proud to ask.

Paid for most of my college (I had a music scholarship that covered a lot).

Secured financing for the business I purchased by myself. Ran it for a while and got out and into the corporate grind now.

Life is good. I’ve got great parents and a good family. Got a good little nest egg and portfolio plus some land to hand down one day. Hopefully one day I might be OT rich.

We didn’t graduate together. She was always a little higher than me...

My parents helped me through college- I was too dumb or lazy to get a scholarship. My wife totally did it on her own...all the way through 2 licks of grad school.

After 20 years of busting hump, I was able to fullfill my dream and buy into the type of business I always wanted. Now I’m my own boss and responsible for the lives of the 20 people that choose to work there everyday. For me, this was like being a first round draft pick.

My wife is on the faculty of a very prestigious private university- I think it was one of her dreams as well.

Moral of the story...you get out of life what you put into it. It’s never easy- don’t think for a second that the guy who has a better job or bigger house has it easy or made- everyone has their own issues. Worry about you and work your arse off everyday to make what you want happen.

Easy

Live below your means

$125,000 salary can easily be a millionaire in 12-15 years

No new cars and $70 lobster meals

There is lots of printed guidance

LIVE after you have achieved your short goal

I was born by the river in a little tent.
And just like the river I've been running ever since.
It's been a long time, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will…

Don’t know about OT — head over to Poli Board, all of those folks are self-made heroes; not a one accepted Road Home money.

No help from my folks after my first year of college.

I came out OK but I now know that my phenotype is entitled.

Parents are poor so i never received anything from them.

First career was a waste. Now 10 years into my real career, I'm doing well above average for a 36 year old

I made a bunch of money after the 2016 flood demolishing houses. I forgot to pay my taxes, got sued, and now live in Walker dismembering asshats who steal oxy from me.

They are still doing well to my knowledge.

It’s not a bad area but I don’t think it will ever move out of the backwoods, behind closed doors politics. That’s both a good and bad thing in some ways.

We’ll probably move somewhere near BR in a couple years.

Raised pretty damn poor by a mostly single mother, she was 17 when she had me, abusive drunk dad bounced out a few years later. Got my work ethic from my grandfather that worked as a carpenter his whole life, I starting working with him during summers at 13 framing houses in the summmer. Tried a semester of community college after HS, got tired of being broke paying for school and working part time and quit. Found a company willing to chance on me, started as a labor on a shovel in South Texas during the summer, that was 29+ years ago and now I'm part owner of said company making a good living. Cash flowing my kids to go to college, crazy to think what that's costing and hoping it's going to pay off, first of my family to earn degrees. What did it take? Lots of hard arse work and sacrifices, had to move the family a few times, had to do 9 years in Shreveport which sucked, the Gulf Shores area which was good, now back near home in South Texas. Will be turning 50 in a couple years and contemplating cashing out to enjoy life a bit more than I have been able to, freaking insurance will probably keep me hanging around longer than I would like though.
