Camp Hartner (sp?) in Pineville 2 years in Middle School (97-98 maybe). My brother was a counselor so my parents weren't too worried about me being there for a week. I remember it being a lot of fun and playing a lot of 4-square before the concession booth opened.

Yes, month long. One of the saddest things to me is how we’ve effectively ruined these for kids. Some of my absolute greatest memories as a child was from summer camp, and I’m still good friends with many people from there.
Much like a lot of things, the liability they must carry now and what not, they have gotten absurdly expensive. On top of that, parents are sending their kids to sports camps after sports camps because obviously they are going to the pros. It is unfortunate.

Perhaps a better question is who went to Mr Wonders camp?

Never went to any real camps, though there’s tons of them in northern wisconsin not far from where I grew up.
Seemed to be mostly wealthy Chicago area kids.
But did always have a basketball camp or two as well as a football camp.

Yep. From age 7-9 I went to Camp Mokuleia on the West side of Oahu. My stepdad was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu. We went for 2 weeks each year. It was awesome. The beach was 20 ft from the cabin we stayed in and the mountains were not far behind us.
That was back in the early 80’s. I looked the Camp up last week. It’s still open and not near as expensive as I thought it would be to attend. It’s just under $500/week for a kid.

I went to a church camp but it was only like a week or a few days maybe.
But I never did the stereotypical summer camp on a lake in log cabins with archery, water sports, etc.

I went to a week long sleep away camp a few times as a kid, I think it was the summers after 4th-6th grade. The camp I went to was awesome. It had a huge climbing wall, a lake with a Blob and a waterslide, high ropes course, skate park, plus all the other standard campground fare.
Those couple times spending a week in the woods with a few buddies, meeting new friends (and usually a camp "girlfriend"), are some of my favorite childhood memories.
My kids will definitely go to camp one day.

2 weeks at camp ozark. Osage for life.
I think ozark has done away with the Osage v. Caddo tradition due to the sad state our country is currently in. Can anyone confirm?

I didn't go away to camp, but I worked at one for about 12 years. A summer camp for girls, which is on the same lake as our place up North. I drove a ski boat for 8 hours a day. All the counselors were college chicks.
Good times.

Camp Sparta in central FL. It was on a like and surrounded by woods. Swimming, skiing, canoeing, hiking, camp fires, wonderful.

Went to Boy Scout camp there several times. The highlight was Indian Wars (maybe Indian Village?), a no holds barred capture the flag/king of the hill type event with three competing tribes. We loved the experience even though the water at the campsites was equal parts water and rust.
My parents visited and my father said it reminded him of the stories about Andersonville, the Confederate’s camp for Union POWs. It was a blast.

Went to Camp Laurel in Maine every summer for 6 weeks between 7 and 14. It was awesome getting out of the heat and humidity of SE La.
