My belief and just my belief is that you don’t necessarily half to tithe to the church but if you’re blessed then bless others so you keep the flow going.
Jesus will bless you to bless others, be that the church, a charity, your family or the guy you happen to meet on the street.
I have lived my life this way and it works for me.
Also it doesn’t necessarily have to be money, it could be your time, or something you have.

Actually the 10% is Biblical.

Yeah. If you're going by the old testament laws for Jews.

Christ said he did not come to change one iota of the law but to fulfill it.

We get to "deduct" money given to other "charitable" organizations, so at a 31% average income tax rate, I'm well into the black in that ledger

Yeah. He fulfilled the requirements of the Old Testament law. A new covenant with God was established through Jesus.

I loved the church I grew up in. I despise these large mega churches since I’ve moved to a big city.
IYKYK. what even made me click on this thread was a family friend that told us they was asked by that church to meet with an accountant to see how they could be giving more to them

Health, wealth, and prosperity is what he preaches.

Well I like that and I’d add “To bless others”

pastor(owner) of the church my wife and daughter attend had to step down last year because it was revealed that he sexually molested a 12 year old girl a few years back, no worries, he's worth over $100 million and owns all of the property of the multi campus mega-church
Is this the one in Birmingham?
