Wait...so they only wanted people on the jury who thought it was impossible to fake an injury?

I'm sure the plaintiff's lawyer didn't want it. That wasn't the only question I raised my hand for, but I'm sure it was a check against me.

Been called once
Was in the 2nd group that it called up. Was #7 out of 50 so I was sure I was getting picked. I did

Was a simple possession with intent to distribute of heroin.

1 day of jury selection. 1 day of testimony. 1 day of closing and deliberations and deciding sentence

We found guilty and gave 10 years probation.

Pretty sure I rode the elevator with the boyfriend of girl. It was pretty simple girl left a known drug house. Followed by a defective. Stopped at another house and gave drugs to another guy All on video. They tried to argue there was no switch. Guy already had rugs in hand and she already had money on her.

Called for 3 , one was for 18 month Federal Grand Jury Probe. That was interesting. It was once or twice a week and We wrapped up in about 12 months, then sworn to secrecy. Called for a petit (sp?) jury It was about a cattle rustling case. Settled the night before having to serve on the jury.
The 3rd time was for a capitol murder case. By then I’d had enough of jury duty. (I was under 30 years old). I decided I didn’t believe in a defendant pleading the 5th and haven’t been called in over 30 years. BTW I do believe in the right to plead the fifth.

No, but I’m biased as frick. If someone is accused of killing a pedophile, I’m going to let them off almost no matter what. Even if Kyle killed all 3 of those people in cold blood (he didn’t especially given one lived), I’d let him off on Rossenbaum just given who he is.

I will be having jury duty for the 2nd time in my life in January.

The first time I was up for the 2nd to last alternate.

It was a tobacco trial. The trail lasted over a year.

The plaintiff used his last strike on me. I was very happy.

Never been called. I have an engineering degree so I probably never will.

Called twice. Selected twice.

Was hoping this would disqualify me, but was never asked if I was an engineer.

FWIW my dad was a prosecutor for 25 years and nobody ever threatened him. It happens but it's rare.

Called for jury duty once and almost made the final cut for 2 different cases. One was a child molestation case (foster home), the other was drug dealing.

Believing all women and being against prohibition sometimes has its benefits.

Sounds like the defense lawyer fumbled the ball, engineers are usually the first to go.

That would have been me. If I fumbled the ball I fumbled it into the endzone and recovered it. Acquittal.

It started the career of being known for picking unconventional juries. The judge in that first case knew it was my first trial and did give me a furrowed brow when seating the engineer. My partners say it is because I am a gambler and think I believe I can convince anyone in a jury box of anything in reality I just see people as multi-dimensional. Hell, I picked a doctor for a med mal case arguing for the plaintiff. I have been doing it so long that I can now get the other side to use their strikes on great jurors for them just because they think I want them. When the facts are truly with you jurors that can understand the facts are generally good for your side as long as they have good character. A lot of attorneys still pick juries using formulas from 50 years ago.

I was called for a medical malpractice case. It went a week and a half. Rural Family doctor Missed jaundice on a baby which lead to serious complications. It was interesting because of the money involved but it was kind of boring because it was a pretty obvious one sided case.

Gotten the summons several times. Most times, I called in and they said nevermind.

Served once, civil trial.

Took an exemption once.

Most recent time they skipped me because I knew two witnesses.

Called for jury duty probably 3-4 times.

Never served on a jury, with the closest I have come being in federal court on a drug case where they picked jurors and I was about 5-10 people past where they stopped picking.

Most times, they call you to come sit in the jury room for a few hours then dismiss you.

At least once, they told everyone there would be long trials going on that week so they gave them the option to reschedule. Once they finished rescheduling everyone who volunteered, I got called to go ahead and leave for the week.

Called three times, served twice. One was a malpractice case (not guilty), one was federal mail fraud case (guilty). Both took just one day. I couldn't imagine being part of the jury on a high profile case that might take months.

Sat on a retrial for a death penalty case. Only reason there was a retrial is the judge couldn't keep his mouth shut and the defendant won a retrial on appeal.

We convicted (again) and sentenced him to life without parole. Too many unknowns to vote for lethal injection.

I recommend running the hell away if you find out it's a death penalty trial. The stress is off the charts.

Served once on a murder trial in Nola. Sent a 20 yr old boy to Angola for life. Like a poster said previously, I didn’t sleep that night. Worst part was it was a cousin killing cousin so lots of family drama.
