Had something stolen out of my car that I accidentally left unlocked so thankfully no forced entry or damage to the car

I came in for the LSU/FSU game not knowing decadence was happening. That's about it.

Me personally, just harassed by bums. I dont park my vehicle in New Orleans and I don't stay out past dark unless I'm with a large group, which is more often than not.
I personally know a few people who have been mugged at gunpoint, car jacked at gunpoint (in a nice part of town at 3 in the evening), many many car break ins, etc.
The place is a fricking dump. Keep going, it'll happen eventually.
Eta: a good friend of mine now leaves his car unlocked with a note in the window saying it's unlocked. Still had THAT window broken once. Idk why anybody goes there if they don't have to.

I'm not there after hours though

Nothing personally to me, but I'm also smart enough not to go down there. I know quite a few people who have had vehicles broken into, and while I wouldn't say he's a friend (friend of a friend) I know the Tulane student who was mugged back in 2015 and only survived because the attackers gun jammed.
Personally, I don't know necessarily because I'm afraid of something happening, because I know that's pretty unlikely, I don't go because of all the trash I know I will see.

I also don’t put myself in positions/places where bad things could happen. A little awareness goes a long way.
This thread will be full of anecdotal stories with no specifics.
frick off with this nonsense. Friend had to rent a house because his was damaged during Ida. A block off magazine and Napoleon in a great area with high class people living on the same block. Had his car window smashed out at least once in the 4 months he rented there. That specific enough?

The better question would be asking how many have had something good happen there.

I almost got hit by a car that just performed a hit and run.
I was down there on a business trip.
I would never go there on my own accord.

I had all of my quarters stolen out of my car by the valet a few weeks ago in Nola. It was about 3 bucks worth. Then I tipped the bastard 5 bucks before I realized what he did.

The dude admitted his window had been smashed but the city’s never been better

I have not been there more than a few hours in over a year but personally, I've had my car broken into, illegally towed and a gun pulled on me for not letting someone into a condo.
With that said, I've had friends who have been car jacked, cars broken into, one shot and killed, homes burglarized and a home invasion where two where shot.
All but one have left the city for good.

Personally no except for events on the football field, (and witnessed a verbal altercation at Brothers Chicken) and I go fairly often, but I always park in a nice parking garage. I do agree someone does need to get a handle on the place. It's a real life Gotham City.

I mugged & beaten while at work by 6 guys. They put me in the hospital for a day but didn't get anything. Had some random packages stolen from the front of my house in the Garden District but the icing on the cake was the dead body that showed up with a bullet in some random person's head next to my gated driveway.
Wife and kids said that's it and we sold our house to some out of towners and got the frick out of Orleans Parish. We now live in Covington where there is a functional government, law & order, and a better quality of life.

There are plenty of good things to do there hence why it's a tourist destination
That's not a better question. It's a stupid question.

Couldn’t get my nephew a Coke with his happy meal. Had to settle for juice and then 2nd hand weed smoke on canal afterwards.
