re: How many of you have a Real ID and how many don’t?

From what I understand, each state issues a Real ID to meet a national standard. It is a state database. It is not a national database, since each state would have to agree to provide information to the central government by state legislation. I'm not saying this won't happen. It just isn't happening now, or yet. So I agree with you, no one is tracking you with this ID

Try to purchase a gun at any sporting goods store without an ID.
Also, our vote is indeed a right… and voter ID protects that right, in that it prevents our being disenfranchised by having our vote negated by foreign nationals.

Apparently Mississippi made this easy. I just walked in to renew my licenses and there was a gold start on my drivers license. Took 3 minutes.

States already have this and already share it.
How is this any different than what already exists?

I'm waiting as long as possible. Just another way for the government to control us. Mandated, but we have to pay for it instead of our tax dollars covering it.

What da hell is it? Gotta research it.

I got one when I had to renew last year. It is a bit more of a pain for women if you don't have a passport and if you have ever changed your last name through marriage, divorce, remarriage, etc. You have to provide additional documents such as a notarized marriage certificate(s) and any divorce docs, Some women especially older ones and those that have changed their names several times are struggling because they don't don't have the docs any more and have to pay extra fees and take the time to gather those from various government offices. So the reason some people are complaining are valid. Most of you men don't have that trouble because you have never had a last name change. Just saying for some it's not as easy.

Isn't this year the 20 year anniversary since they passed the Real ID act? Government working at its best right there.

I’m pretty sure I’ve had one since like 2012. Unless you’ve just had an expired drivers license for years, I’m not it sure how you don’t have one at this point
Alot of people in Louisiana renew online or through the mail. Real ID requires you to go to the DMV and provide documents
My license was due to renewal recently so I went in and did just that. I also have a TWIC card which works for TSA as well

In 2013, when they weren't available in Louisiana, you could use your passport in lieu of having one. I went and updated my passport that year, even though I wasn't planning to leave the country. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get stuck with a long wait in a airport at some state that required them.
Always did. Not sure how people don’t
ETA: I have mine. But I didn't get it until this year. Federal offices, like Social Security are probably going to start requiring them. That's what their employees are telling people.

I've been using my passport for years so this is a nothinburger to me. I don't know why anyone outside the poorest would not want to have a passport.
Also it lasts for 10 years

Anyone with a Texas Drivers License
Posted on 5/17/25 at 3:41 pm to Mike da Tigah
I have had mine for maybe 5 years. My kids have theirs. Not sure why people are acting like it’s a suprise, this has been in the works for what 20 years?
I’m all for people proving who they are to get an ID. It’s not hard.

Yes and we have a similar one now.

We travel a lot. I have a passport, real ID, and global entry ID. I guess that SHOULD be enough to give me some kind of classified access to cool airport lounges and shite at this point.

I believe the yellow star idea came about under the administration of your messiah, the Kenyan Cocksucker (literally a cocksucker), didn't it?

I don’t have one. I have a TWIC and a passport.

I don't have it yet. Apparently, I'm steps away from sovereign citizen status.
