I wouldn't do anything over 160k, personally. Go to your local used lot. You can find plenty of 130 to 140k vehicles between 2-5k.

Take care of the car it'll last you up between 3-6 years. That's not a bad get in my opinion.

Just don't be like my cousin. He went on craiglist and bought an old Cadillac escalade for 4k that had 240k miles on it. The car lasted 6 months before it went to complete crap. That is what you call a terrible deal.

Get him a used Toyota minivan. Safe, reliable, and will inspire him to get a job and buy his own vehicle if he doesn’t like it.

Buying 2nd 16yr old a Tahoe or Silverado....oldest one destroyed one with 50k miles that was expensive... looking at spending 10-14k on 150k miles truck and hoping he can make it last through college...what is most mileage vehicle you would buy?

I gave mine a POS first and upgraded down the line, no fricking way they could have kept a vehicle from 16 until college is finished though, that is a pipe dream.

for a kid they will be driving a lot so i wouldnt look at anything over 125k miles

with that said toyota engines will go 500k miles trouble free as long as you change oil regularly so if its a toyotas im ok buying anything up to 250k miles and everything i buy i do with the intention to keep for 10 yrs and putting another 100k miles on it myself

to be honest if i were you i wouldnt be looking at anything other then 8-10 yr old toyota camry or carollas around 120k miles

10-14k on 150k miles truck
Damn.

The market is fricked if it costs that much for a vehicle with 150k miles on it.

Why not buy something for less than that, especially if he destroyed the nice car first?

Well, your Brayden is a special kid. Best hitter on the travel team. My Gayden though is a little shite and he’s batting 220. He’s going to get a Kia while his sister Laydon who is killing it at Cheer Force is going to get one of those Range Rovers like Brayden.

I bought a highlander with 115k on it, still going strong 100k miles later with relatively minor maintenance.

I'd aim for about that mark in 100k-125k range for best value vs remaining life. Make sure it has reliable and consistent maintenance history

I owned a 2001 Highlander 4 cylinder and put over 400k before selling it for $1500, lol. It’s probably still on the road.

Haha mine is an 06 4 cylinder with a timing chain - I've started driving for work a to and putting 45k a year on it. The annual tax write off is probably worth as much as the car.

Hoping to get at least two more years and get to around 300k.Ac is a little loud and wonky but it still blows cold. Only other issues are normal wear and tear from driving on new orleans streets.

We used [link=(Wholemax.com)]Wholemax.com[/link] to let our 15yo look at vehicles and see what he liked. Ended up with a 2011 BMW 5 series with 50k miles...there are plenty of options and the site is run like a revolving auction. We paid $300 for the car to be delivered from south florida to our house in the panhandle.

My mom bought my 15 year old son a 1999 Camry with a V6, 80,000 miles. She bought it from her best friends mom. She drive it from Home to church and the grocery store. The car never left Houma.

Find him a used fleet truck. Basic, essentials, and fairly cheap. You can get one with 50,000-80,000 miles for less than $20K.

An older Chevy or GMC with 150k miles is a great vehicle if all the regular maintenance was done. They're really well built, other then the gauge clusters.
They are not hard to take out then ship to be rebuilt with lifetime warranty for under $150.
