All I know is that I didn’t have gray hair until my daughter became a teenager , keep that in mind

I’ve said it before here each time this topic comes up. This is based on science.
In terms of available free time, going from 1 to 2 wasn't very noticeable for me.
Adding the 3rd changed things exponentially in this regard, because you have to factor in that one or both of your oldest children will be involved in some level of activities and require more attention from you. This on top of being limited to what you are able to do with an infant/toddler.
There are many factors here, it's not just an assessment of numbers. That being said, having children has many intangible benefits.
ETA I’ve always heard that if you have three may as well have 4 or more it doesn’t matter at that point based on the science above

Have 6. It gets easier after 3. We didn’t have more because we’re hitting 40.
My wife and I have good genetics so why not?

My mom and dad know all about that. I grew up with 3 brothers. We fought constantly growing up.

No more than you can put through college while saving for your own retirement.

I have 2. I am done. These people with 4 and 5 just have something I do not understand.

I have a boy and girl and we’re done
I’m not sure how many are too many but we decided two was enough for us

One boy and one girl. Too many kids is relative. For us, three would be too much. It’d make the decision to have my wife work not worth it. As is, we still can have a pretty positive cash flow with two kids and one kid rolling into kindergarten to get the daycare costs down to one kid.

5 daughters.
It was ALOT of work when they were young. It’s awesome now.
Oldest is 25. Dental hygienist. Married to a great guy who is AD and head football coach at a private high school. Has a daughter and expecting another.
Second is 23. 1st year teacher this fall. Married to another awesome guy. They have a daughter.
Middle is in college for business.
Last 2 are twins. That’s been a wild ride. Both about to start college.
They are all amazing. I look forward to retirement and spending time with a bunch of grandkids to grow old with.
