Took Klonopin until the Lexapro built up in my system.

Driving with my wife and son always gets me. It's ridiculous. A NOLA to Destin trip was horrible. The Atchafalya bridge stretch was HORRENDOUS. I didn't want to say anything. Just hit me and you got 13 miles to go. frick me.

I used to have bad anxiety. Now it's much less common for me and when it does happen I can control it and get it to pass.

1. Meditation
2. Psychedelic therapy (LSD)

Lack of magnesium is supposed to be a huge problem in America and source of a lot of depression.

Amazon

Tat Tvam Asi is a good book. May help you. Maybe the reviews will give you a better idea if it would help.

Does you wife know about it?

I told mine straight up and we worked shite out (like her driving during certain spots on trips) until I got my shite together.

As a man, it's not our instinct to let people know we need help. Hiding it from the people that can help will only make it worse....

Psychiatry might help you.

Depending on your locale and insurance you may find relief quicker from other providers. 5 years therapy typical for psychiatry. Daddy mommy. Oedipal.

Heres the bottom line. Plains indians. "Its a great day to die."
The fear of death is lurking. You can get support for your process.
Without "lets pretend you go to heaven or hell", start by allowing as to how you and everyone will die.
Read book "Easy Death". Cheap used. Amazon. So much cheaper than 5 years therapy.
"Whenever there is an other, fear arises".
Trick here is to be in allowance that you are one within the divine person. Imagine. There is only god. Nowhere to go. Rest heart in heart of oneness.
I am board certified hypnotherapist and D.D.

Look around your region. Psychiatrist might do it but interview them. Some are clueless.
I recommend carl Rogers' non directive therapy.
Imagine accept that there is only the one divine person living you now. Love as if your whomevers are divine. They are. U 2.

Buspar made me feel like I was going to have a seizure. I would not recommend Buspar.

Yeah. And it starts with someone that has given up on living and can't figure out what to do with himself.

Another source I enjoy is The School of Life. That video is specifically the What is an Existential Crisis?, which could help an anxious person in particular. They give interesting and easily digestible breakdowns of topics.

Psychiatrists hand out SSRIs like gastro's hand out PPIs.

Benzodiazepines are absolutely addictive, but the shite works. There is no "High" I just go from panic to normal. Which makes you feel less normal. I SHOULD feel high but don't.

I have seen a psych in the past and this came up, specifically with Xanax, but with other anti-anxiety meds. His advice was crystal clear: don't go chasing a "high" (or waterfalls either, for that matter). The goal of the meds is to feel normal again, NOT high.

You need to find the right med that you can take daily to prevent the panic from occurring. Psychiatrists are very good at helping....the problem is that everyone's brain chemicals are different and the side effects can be a bitch. But it's worth it in the long run if you find the right one.

Effexor and Lexapro have worked for me in the past, but again, everyone is different.

Find a good shrink. And don't feel like it makes you less of a person for doing it.

That's another thing. I've been on Xanax for many, many years and I have never abused it. As a matter of fact, I've taken less than the prescribed dosage for the last few years because it's all that I've needed. If you start looking for more than normal with benzodiazepines, you're going to get yourself into trouble.

Ive been there dude. I had full blown panic disorder that came out of no where about 10 years ago. I was having attacks multiple times per day for no reason. Paxil completely stopped it. I only took it for about a year and stopped with very little w/d symptoms. I still get panic attacks on occasion but I recognize them as such and am able to calm myself down.

This. I also take Xanax "as needed", which for me amounts to .5 mg once every 3 days or so to clear up any mild anxiety that may occur. My shrink says my dosage pattern is fine in terms of not becoming addicted to it....and the first sign of addiction is if I find myself taking it more often than I need to. Those meds are scary...I don't want to end up addicted.

Is this what causes me to go blackout mode/dizzy/sweaty palms on those high beltway 8 flyovers or other tall bridges?

I use to have bad panic attacks. Still do but I've learn to manage them with heavy exercise, breathing, and making lists.
