How many here have actually been to a psychiatrist?

This is anxiety related. Posting this in a full blown panic attack. Driving seems to trigger this. I have posted in many of these similar threads as I've had anxiety for some time. Only managed by a GP and meds. Wellbutrin and occasional Valium.
I feel I may need CBT or some shite. This is eating into quality of life. Work is able to ground me, but if I lose work I feel I will be lost. This is NOT a suicidal post. I know people have posted this before. I have too much going and am not really depressed. I get depressed about being anxious. If that makes sense.
Just wondering how many of you have gone so far as actual therapy for anything like this?
IB4 weed
IB4 AIDS
IB4 You're a pussy. (I can't feel like a bigger pussy than now if I tried.

Working out and drinking less really helped mine. Mine was really bad while driving too

I see a psychiatrist every 3 months through the VA, I have Bi-Polar Disorder and PTSD. I find that it, along with the medication I take, helps me keep things under control.

the wife and I watch Frasier every night before bed, if that helps?

Try buspar, I know a couple people taking it for anxiety (not depression just general nervousness) and good results.

No way.
Could not function the way it was before meds. I'd be in my own ER every few weeks with some new "ailment".

Pull over, close your eyes , and breath deeply for 5 minutes.
Not joking. It's amazing how the vast majority of us will chill out to at least being able to function safely with a few minutes of deep breathing.
Have you become a parent in the last few years? I had a naturopath tell me one time that as people become parents, especially males with our natural tendency to want to protect our offspring it can cause kind of an increased baseline of excitatory hormone levels and a decrease in inhibitory feel good ones.
I had gotten really worked up over some labs that ended up being pretty off and a faulty ekg. Got really anxious for a few weeks but then still felt jittery for a long time after despite mentally being fine.
Put me on B2, magnesium, and this mixture called mental calm by rainbow lite a pretty legit vitamin company. I'm about as skeptical of alternative medicine as many are but it worked amazingly in helping my body chill the frick out afterwards.
Good luck man.

I saw a psychiatrist for med management. If you want behavioral modification for your anxiety issues, I would suggest a visit to a psychiatrist for your meds and a therapist who specializes anxiety disorders for the CBT.
Do NOT stop taking your meds without medical supervision.
Mine is also for anxiety. I know the pain of waking up at 3:00 am in a full blown panic attack and feeling like you're dying. Good luck, my friend.

I know you aren't joking. It does work. I tell people this all the time. There are 2 types. The hyperventilated and people who hold their breath....waiting.
I hold my breath. Or breathe very shallow.

Been seeing a psychiatrist for ~25 years for major depressive disorder and anxiety/panic attacks. Very close to suicide a few times. My panic attacks have been basically eliminated by Xanax. Many will say, "Stay away from the benzos," but they probably saved my life. As for the depression, I've been on pretty much everything under the sun, without much success. Prozac has been the best. At least it makes me functional. I wish you the best. It's a miserable road to travel, and those who haven't traveled it CANNOT understand.

I know. Benzodiazepines are absolutely addictive, but the shite works. There is no "High" I just go from panic to normal. Which makes you feel less normal. I SHOULD feel high but don't.

Mine moved into a position at LSU and since my meds are stable I just go to my gp.
Gotta find the right medication and dosage.

I would seek a professional in most cases if it's that bad.
Anxiety is a part of most people's lives, how it is handled is the difference. You good news is: YOU have control over how you handle it. You do.
You're not weird, weak, crazy, or whatever, you just need to get a good mental/emotional foundation and learn to manage your feelings and mental state better.

Sleeping with one probably helps but does not count.
Pics?
They'd make me feel better. Lol

I'm on Lexapro and that shite works wonders for me.
Took Klonopin until the Lexapro built up in my system.
Driving over certain bridges is what triggered my attacks.
You may need a change in meds and some therapy to get some coping skills that are effective.
Everyone is different.

Through personal experience, I have found this to be false.
