Just finished building my home office, putting the final touches on. I have quite a few certificates/awards/degree from various sources that are pretty meaningful. I'm trying to decide if it is tacky to hang them all up or if I should just pick a few to hang up. Let's say I have about 10 that have real meaning. Any suggestions?

Is that the rule of thumb?

You gotta put them all up to show all your coworkers at home.

What's 'real meaning'? Give us an example of the fee that you want to hang?

Bachelors and masters are the obvious ones. Some prestigious military schools and awards.

Store them all in a closet. Home is not the place to try to impress people with your credentials. And if no one goes in the office but you, seriously, you want to hand diplomas in there?

You should put up a max of three degrees but only if you have a bachelor's, master's, and a phd. If the award is nationally recognized and well known to most of the population, such as the noble peace prize, put that up. But everything else leave off the wall.

I only put five up, because I'm basically a humble person and the room wasn't big enough for all of them. I display my Nobel Prize plaque (Physics), my two Pulitzers, my Medal of Honor citations and my gavel from when I was president of my fraternity.

10 seems a little much.... I'd just go with my actual degrees and call it a day. Unless you have a Medal of Honor or navy cross in a shadow box, then go with that.

The most important question ---

Do you have clients/customers visit your home office? If so, only put the degrees needed to validate your business.

If no - ehh, are you a fresh grad? I don't know a lot of people who hang the degrees up where only family and friends will see.

The wife and I both have masters,,,, and out of the 4 diplomas - I could not even guess where to find one.

Probably will take this advice and maybe the highest military award I've earned.

Like what? Just curious, If you're proud of them then hang it. All I have is a picture from my retirement and a plaque given to me at retirement. I keep the rest in a box.

I understand where you are coming from but I'm not hanging anything for validation by anyone, I'm just proud of them and what I've accomplished. That's my line of thought. I don't want it to be tacky though.
