I think this board tends to overestimate how rich people are. If Forbes only has three listed in Louisiana, I bet that’s close to accurate. Somehow Forbes is good at figuring this stuff out.

No they are not. Wealth is fluid. Like it's been said, you can sell your business and net a billion. It can change.

I'm not sure how Forbes would even go about determining the wealth of the individual I was referring to. Takes me a few good days each month to calculate. These guys have assets in many different forms and all over the place.

Yep.
As of late 2025, there are three recognized billionaires in Louisiana according to Forbes lists: Todd Graves ($17B-$22B, Raising Cane's), Gayle Benson ($6.6B-$7.9B, Saints/Pelicans), and William Goldring ($6B-$7B, Sazerac Company). These individuals represent the wealthiest residents in the state, often appearing in the Forbes 400 and World’s Billionaires rankings.

Lapayere as well. They fly under the radar by design.

I tend to think these numbers are understated. Forbe likely determines their wealth based on known assets and has no insight into a significant portion of their assets.

Danos
Danos been making some in roads and diversifying into other businesses outside of oil and gas and contract laborers.
Of course 2 or 3 brothers are running the ship from while it could be a billion dollar company, they may not be individually be worth a billion.
Lots of old money still in the oilfield.
Also, don’t count out Rouses. They keep getting bigger. While Donny maybe the front man, their ownership is spread out through the family. So while one person is the front man making deals, others are in the back collecting a dividend and ownership in the company. Making groceries is a big business.

They've definitely got money. I'm not sure that they are billionaire status yet though

Matt Stuller in Lafayette is probably worth over a billion, but he also flies under the radar.

Not many, but LSU is quick numerous when it comes to millionaires due to the construction and industry shops.

Add Benny Cenac to that list.
ETA. Sold Cenac towing to Enterprise for around 600mil. Then rebuilt the company to bigger than it was in about 10 years. One of the largest land owners in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish. Owns a couple yards and some producing oil wells.

I’m pretty sure Todd is not a LA resident.
